them. What pressure should I run for pleasure driving with 175
tires?
Originally, the Bugeye used 5.20 X 13 tires, which everybody changed
to radials. the manual says that the 5.20's should have 18 in the
front and 20 in the rear. (If you have the nerve and clearance to
try.) I am using 185's (you "stock" people, they won't fit!) and 22
in front and 24 in the rear.
engine and they have been conflicting. I was told at the AH club
meeting that you could run one at 5,100 all day without hurting the
engine and I have read that the redline is over 6,000. What should I
avoid not exceeding?
You don't mention if you have rebuilt the engine since 76' or not. I
will assume that you did, and suggest braking it in first. I think
maximum H.P. is about 5,300 in the 948, and I would assume close to
that in the stock 1275, so you really aren' gaining anything by
running higher. Is there room in a Bugeye for a scatter shield? I
went with a 3.9 rear end and a 5 speed so I can run all day long at
33-3,500 RPM's and keep what is left of my ears.
could be polished. "Careful Cap'n Bob" I enjoy your humor but some
of the other listers don't. If they can be polished, what procedure
works best?
Polished/re-finished - I used 1000-1500 sandpaper, wet. Some say to
clearcoat after. One of the knobs, I think it is the Heater, is
actually stenciled on instead of being "engraved" so sanding will
remove the "H."
