Hey peoplez. Thanks to my friend George back east who sold me the Beige cowl (steering wheel surround) and through in a beige horn push with it ... I'm really going to give it a try to duplicate that picture in Original Sprite and Midget showing the blonde steering wheel (but, using a bugeye steering wheel instead). Having said that, I thought it might be worth a shot to access a Midget specific site and see if anybody knows the exact color of paint to be used to get that blonde/beige color on the steering wheel. So what's the... MORE

Hi All, Here's a case of dedication and good fortune! Friend of mine from Virginia located a Fully restored Bugeye, all original, complete with soft and hard top on either Craigslist or Traderonline. Was sent a bunch of photos, which he forwarded on to me. It looked too good to be true for 6K. It was located in Kennewick, WA. Was about a 10 year old restoration. Original owner passed away and a friend was selling it for his widow. He flew out with his wife, they loved it! Bought it. Drove it to friends place in Puyallup. Made... MORE

Well all, My daughter has a Miata and I looked it over a few months ago thinking about putting that entire drive train and suspension in my Bugeye. I decided to go ahead and use the A-Series and 5-speed, and update the suspension with air bags. I didn't want to have to buy the Miata and see what I can do. Well, to all you Fathers out there, last night I just got the call all Fathers dred. Yep, Mr. Hahs, this is Sargent Phelps from La Mirada Police Department. Now come on guys and gals. Let's confess up. COLIN IS THE BEST. Don't you just love it that he has these tidbits that are, in fact ... fact! Not making fun. No, no, no. First off, anything can be done with enough time and money. There is a local guy (Salinas CA) that has done this transplant but with a stick. He did not have to cut a lot because the car already had a V6 :-) I think I have some pictures around somewhere. If I can find them I will post them. It's not a real good fit but the car is very fast. The shifter comes out back by his elbow and is shaped like the one on a Cobra. Larry Miller "Larry & Sandi Miller" 14916... MORE

Howdy, folks. I just wanted to personally invite all of you to an event that we, the Cape Cod British Car Club, are hosting on May 22. It's called the "A" Team Invitational. Although all marques are welcome, it's a tribute to all automobiles blessed with having the "A" Engine as its primary source of locomotion. There's far too much to explain in this post. So, please take a look at the web site. Scroll down until you see "A" Team Spring Invitational. Click and learn. The reason I'm sending the personal invitation is because the 75 mile Poker... MORE

I can't tell you about what is included in the kit because I haven't bought one yet, but I about a year ago, I did an interesting red color study. My bugeye was originally Cherry Red with the Red interior. In talking to Biff Jones ( http://sprites2.homestead.com/ ) I learned that the red interior in his pristine '62 Sprite was the same red. Also, Bill French of South Carolina had pulled an original red interior out of his car and sent me a few samples. I ordered swatches from AH Spares, Victoria British, Moss and Heritage Upholstery and compared... MORE

Michael- I've been trying to figure out how the "Guys" drive these things at anything above 60-65mph...my poor little 948 w/ stock tranny and 4.22 RE is well above 5krpm at 65 and the suspension and brakes at that speed leave me w/ little/no confidence. Michael, Years ago I used to install telemetry systems onto the guidance system of the Minuteman missile. If you dropped a part into the missile then you had to go get it. So I would use Eastman 910 super glue and glue the part, usually a nut, to my middle finger. This allowed me to put the nut into some pretty tight places. I used this technique when I reassembled my BE with good results. Jerry Corona, Ca. "Gerald Mock" 14840... MORE

Guys, concerning AH Spares: I just purchased some bizarre parts (complete inner assembly) behind the bugeye grill that NOBODY else had ... and they had it (reasonably priced, too) and processed the order real quick. Had it in a week. I've been taking a look at their prices and stock: Impressive. Even though it's in Britain ... they may become my supplier of choice. Maybe. Just wanted to add my two cents on my experience with them. It was good. Michael Modesto, CA Furryoldgrover@... 14838... MORE
