I'd just like to say, LETS HEAR IT FOR US YANKS!!!! We seem to own the most
of these go carts around. Or are we the only ones proud enough to say that
we do?
This last weekend (23-24 June) I attended the 13 annual Chico California All
British Car Meet, behind the Lions club. It seemed like a pretty good
showing. I only wish my Midget could have came with me. As of right now I am
having carb problems. The problem is the car is a 76 and has to have all the
California smog equipment and in running order. Well my emissions legal carb
went the way of the Dodo leaving me with my spare. The original had vacuum
hook ups for the vacuum advance and the dreaded EGR valve. So I had to use a
carb out of who knows what (All I know is the fuel hook up is on the wrong
side and there is no hook up for vacuum lines and it says Zenith Stromberg
150CD) and a plenum (hope that's the right word) for two vacuum lines that
fits between the carb and the intake. The car seems to run fine, just have
to let the inspectors plug it in and see if that place that asks you to
leave the car there for the day and a deposit of 40 dollars and a case of
whatever the mechanic wants. Seems to have worked so far. This is the only
guy I know who can get this car to pass smog.
I just thought I would like to tell you my story and I'd surely like to hear
from fellow Californians on what they have done (legally) to get past our
silly smog laws which do not take account for parts which are obsolete.
