Hi People,
Bit of an open question that I may have asked before, so forgive me if this
is a bore - but then again it might stir up a few views as it's been a bit
quiet...
The work on getting my 1500 back in the road progresses apace, and with that
in mind I am trying to get straight in my head what I shall do with my '2nd'
Midget.
It's a '71 rolling shell. Bought from a scrap yard cheap. Literally a
panelled monocoque less boot(trunk)lid, but includes front
suspension/steering/brakes, rear suspension (empty axle).
The wings are poor, as is one door and bonnet, but the shell looks very
solid, with some repair patches visible. The best thing I can say about the
paint is that it's thick...
The big question is... what the **** do I do with it!?!
As some of you may remember my 1500 has modified engine and suspension, but
its getting too extreme for road use (I started thinking about stripping the
interior out and putting in a 5 link rear end...)
Bought the '71 to create something a bit silly and very quick, and forget
originality (gasp!). To be used at weekends mainly, and perhaps the odd
trackday.
So far I have decided I will fit a GRP front end, and run the car bumperless
and with just an aeroscreen and tonneau, with no interior and lightweight
seats. I am lusting after at least 300bhp/tonne, hoping the weight of the car
will be approx. 500kg (1100lb).
I have considered many engines, from tuned A-series through Nissan turbo
lumps, even big motorbike engines...
What do you chaps reckon? Any suggestions appreciated (but not necessarily
taken heed of!)
Cheers, Phil
PS I have also aquired the important bits of a Jag 4.2 - what do you reckon
replica C-type or D-type?
