Hi Guys,
Hope you're all doing fine out there in Spridget world...have a Great Christmas & New Year.
Since I last wrote, the 'madness' has subsided; I didn't buy a MG Metro Turbo and have given up the idea of a spridget turbo, it seems quite complex, and other more worthy folk have done it and been there already.
So, not content with a slow moving Frogeye restoration (2 1/2 years so far...) and not having mush cash to hand, a mild madness returned & I blew part of the restoration fund on a cheap, scruffy but structurally sound Mk 1 Midget....
It's great to be out there and dong Spridgely things, but at this time of year maybe a Mk2 with wind up windows may have been a better choice!#
Anyway, it has been living outside for 3 years & is in need of care & attention, also it has been modified in various ways - wire wheels, telescopic dampers on the rear and optional bumpers.
It has also acquired a 1098cc '10V' engine from (I think) a Morris Minor - does this make much difference to its usefulness/power etc?
I haven't checked which head is fitted, but it has (Mini Cooper!) twin HS2 carbs on the standard manifold.
Also, one item form the wants list: does anyone have a spare Spridget fit boss for a Les Leston wooden steering wheel? I was given it by an old guy who used to have a racing Midget some years ago - he also gave me some LHD headlights (not so hand in the UK) and a tonneau cover - I'd love to use the old wheel as the modern horror currently fitted has to go.
Finally, I promised the PO of the Midget that I'd ask around on the list about Brabham Midgets - the ones with a 1220cc Coventry Climax engine - he has one that he is restoring and is looking for more info & any others of the 12 made that are still out there MASC an UK MG clubs ssem to have very little info, so anything would be most welcome -please contact me off list.
Keep up the good work out there
