Ya know, Allen-
I figured this might be the case. Writing
a book about what others know doesn't
make the author an expert in ALL matters
pertaining thereto, despite this author's
obvious personal in-depth experience and
knowledge on the subject and all the
modification "links" to same. This would
be just too much to expect.
For good general knowledge I would certainly appreciate Daniel's advice
but
would more appreciate that from
Frank C. and other listers who virtually
"build" these cars on a continuous and
continuing basis. I am not the "hands
on guy" I used to be in my younger days
and was never very good at this particular
aspect anyway. For knowledge on my aircraft and it's systems, I go
beyond pilot's training on the subject and can often be found "hanging"
with the base
mechanics on lenghty "turnarounds".
These guys have actual "hands on" knowlege "pushing tin" (line
maintenance)
and know twice as much as our "pilot
instructors" about systems, airframe, etc.
And, they didn't write the book! They sure
have educated me beyond what I learned
about the aircraft and it's systems in pilot
orientation/training. Pilots can only break
airplanes, mechanics fix 'em.
F'rinstance, I know DCOE's very, very
well (and will know Judson Superchargers
just as well in short time 'cause that's what I personally am into at
this point in
time and I know how to "focus") but I sure
don't know half of what Daniel knows about Spridgets in general, for
sure; no
where near! When I needed advice on
choosing a basic needle for the SU
conversion on my Judson, Daniel 1312
provided me an excellent practical suggestion based upon his general all
around excellent knowlege of the type
including modifications.
No one else had a clue as to where to
begin!
I hope Daniel reconsiders and chooses
to return to the list. I sure don't expect
him to know EVERYTHING about it and
do not think he should be so burdened by
anybody with at least half a brain. And, he
should not burden himself this way either,
though I respect the man inclusive of his
freedom of choice in all matters.
Just my .02 :)
