My 62 with stock smooth case is annoying to shift because it has too much
resistance on the shift lever, catches slightly and is hard to shift into
first in particular. Otherwise it operates well in every other respect, in
fact it is not noisy in first at all. Could this perhaps be the detent
plungers worn or the anti-rattle plunger worn? Or . . . ?
