Took off the fuel filter and held hose and no gas came through. Does anyone have any ideas on... MORE

Bill B,..... Correct needle and spring in HS2 for 1275 = "AN" & "Blue", however.... When carbs. rich and won't "adjust".... I would check the float bowls for flooding. Either too much fuel pressure or valves in bowl lids are not shutting off when in "closed" position. Pull the lids and manually "close" the valves. Blow (with mouth) through. If air is going through with valve "closed", so it fuel. Renew with upgraded "viton" tipped ones of "grose jet" type available from one of the usual suspects. If this is not the problem, suspect an aftermarket electric pump of... MORE
Interesting suggestion, but I think if I'm going to buy them I may as well stick them on the vehicle. It will be some months before the car is finished so I have some time to search. "Tim R." 20043... MORE
Does anyone know how to contact Randy Zimmerman, of Dallas Texas. I have not heard a word out of Elizabeth or Fisher Jones in a long time, but if you read this E, I went and looked at a 72 B today. It last ran 3 years ago, but the son went off to College and it has been sitting. The present owners only know how to put gas in their cars, nothing else, so getting it running is not something they can do on their own. The bonnet is damaged from a storm blowing a fence onto it, and... MORE
get an example of each different size from the car, nip down to your local large Halfords where they have those catalogue/book things (the ones with actual nuts and bolts stuck in, to select from) compare what you've got with the description and mark yours up so you don't forget. Alternatively, measure and check against http://www.squibby.freeserve.co.uk/article_thread_size_chart.htm David "David Jacobs" 20034... MORE
Hi guys, OK, this is going to sound like an odd question, but is there an *easy* way of figuring out the size of UNF Nuts and Bolts? tia Nigel "amukdigiphoto" 20025... MORE
About ten years when I first heard of Water Wetter in a Moss flyer, I bought a bottle. Scientist at heart, I designed a test to measure what it actually does. Surface mount thermometers on the top and bottom radiator tanks, thermocouples in the air stream in front of and behind the radiator, and a calibrated water temp guage in the car. The results were zero. No effect at all from Water Wetter. None. That's not to say that some people don't see results. First they drain, flush and refill their systems, and add Water Wetter. The car runs... MORE
Yes, Jens... It does block off the bypass and in "sized" as well to provide a little "restriction" for flow velocity I am told. Cap'n. Bob '60 :{) PilotRob@... 20014... MORE
Hello Folks I know this is a little early but I'm just getting my duck in line. I will be adding water wetter to my coolant this spring. I have read the direction on the bottle but I can't figure out how much needs to be added to the system. Does anyone know how much you add to a 1275 system? Guys... For those of you who were able to offer in response to my prior post on behalf of the guy who bought my 1098 and needs one of these to replace it, I thank you! :) Mission accomplished! From me and on his behalf...."Thank you"! :) Cap'n. Bob '60 :{) PilotRob@... 19993... MORE
Just to muddy the water: The info I have (which could be wrong) is that the first rwa 1275 is GAN5 105501, and the last is Gan5 153920, for a total of 48,420 rwa 1275 cars. "Jeffrey Holmes" 19979... MORE
Hear yea, hear yea!! Looking for a stock intake manifold to a stock twin 1.25 set-up. The fellow I sold my 1098 to is putting everything together and has noticed his intake manifold is cracked. He is thus, looking for one. Pleae contact me off list if you've one hanging about for sale at something less than Don Johnson's 8 billion dollar "take"!! :) Muchas gracias! Cap'n. Don Well really it's a question of perception isn't it. I compared the production figures for the MkIII, because only MarkIII's had the 1275 engine. If you want a 1275 engined spridget, you have a choice of square arch or round arch, and there was slightly more square arch 1275's built than round arch ones. If you want to compare Mark III, 1275 facelifted versions then there were about 40% more round arch versions than square arch versions. I think its reasonable to make a 'like-for-like' comparison. Is there really any point in comparing say a 1098 square arch... MORE

Hello Folks I am going to be replacing my thermostat this week end. I have all the stuff to do it. I have the gasket for the housing but do I need any kind of silicone or something like that to make sure the paper gasket holds? Also is there an easier way to drain out the coolant so I can do the job? Thanks for the help Jason Gross 1971 MG Midget "Jason Gross" 19966... MORE
I am thinking about somewhere down the line (long way away) of putting a 1275 in my bugeye, and converting to the front disk brakes, etc A 73 midget has presented it self to that the guy started taking apart to restore, and lost interest. Does the 73 have a 1275? Does it have front disk brakes? Lastly what would be a fair price for it? Guy says he wants 1100 for entire car. Opinions welcome! (Other than you got to restore that car, I have no interest in that. Willy "Wm Thompson" 19942... MORE
Nigel, Can't speak for over the pond but in my mind it's a matter of "style" than what engine is under the hood when talking about the desirably of owning a rwa. Your figures are correct but as pointed out the actual availability of rwa cars is low here compared to others for sale. The demand is higher. It's that round wheel arch not the engine that is the basis for buying one. You would not say the desirably of a bug eye sprite was for the 948 and smooth case trans . . . its those bug eyes... MORE
Hi, Willy 1..... If the car and ancilliaries are in good shape, the price sounds reasonable. It's all a matter of what shape it's in, in terms of what YOU want to use it and what you think you will have to put into it to make it roadworthy, or if you just want to use it for parts, or what. Round Wheel Arch Spridgets are harder to come by than the 1/2 arch cars. They are arguably better looking than the 1/2 arch cars (flame suit "on"!) It definitely has the 1275 along with front disc brakes and... MORE
25+ years ago, I "blueprinted" a Bugeye and on my test run, got 44 MPG. Today, with a 1275 and 1 1/2" Carbs, 3.90 rear end, (still a Bugeye) I'm down to 35 MPG (at 700 miles since rebuild). But we have improved "safety?" since then. Bob, Portland, OR "Robert Webb" 19935... MORE
Jim C. ..... You are correct then, in both cases!! :) No, gasoline is not evil per se. The human beings involved in it's production and marketing (read: artificial pricing) are another story!! :) Of course we all need gas and are all in the same boat subject to the foregoing. Evian I can do without! Speaking as an LBC "gearhead"... we "need" it AND we "want" it. I completely perceive in all cases and understand the "value" of time spent in the LBC...could not agree more, especially in the case of "obligatory" driving....in that as long as you... MORE
Hi Guys I am contemplating rescuing a rusted out 65 Sprite and plan to replace the main part of the shell ( the tub ) with a new Heritage shell, and restore and re-use the old bolt on panels since they are in fairly good condition. The problem is that this is a MKIII Sprite, a proper roadster with a detachable hood that is stored in the boot rather than being permanently fixed to a rim at the back of the cockpit. I am told that shells with this type of hood attachment are not available and I would... MORE
Many thanks to everyone who responded about the front suspension. Lessons learned: 1. Sell the cat and buy a major front suspension kit. Actually I sold the cross trainer I fooled myself I would use when I spent far too much money for it, I will have to find another clothes rack but I will have the money for a suspension kit. 2. Make a device and use the mounting bolt holes for the steering wheel to pull the frozen steering off. Thanks for that tip. 3. Don't be cheap and bust my knuckles with a non-MagnaFluxed flea market...
