Jeremy, et al. Any good machine shop should be able to make you a set of bushings for your pedal pivot points. I have made numerous bushings for other applications out of a porduct called (in the business) Oil-lite (sp)......it is a medium hardness red brass alloy impregnated with oil. We have used it here at the plant for years for babbit type bearings on applications much more demanding than our brake pedals. Just my tuppence worth. David A. You mention high ratio rockers (1.5 to 1) are you talking about roller rockers or standard type rockers with the higher ratio??? see below as to why i ask. As C Bob said not that much of a performance gain, but one of the main reasons to fit roller rockers is to cut down the side loadings on the valve when using high lift camshafts. Robert, Success! I think... I set the key in the ON position, took a piece of heavy wire and jumped the solenoid. The starter motor ran - it would have started the car if I held the connection long enough (someday I will get a more efficient starter). SO, it seems my solenoid is shot. I have a 8/75 mg midget and am having a major problem with it. The problem is that has way too much negative camber, tip in at top of tire, on the left front. I have replaced the off center bushings in the left lower a-arm, bought a shop manual from Moss and checked the measurements on the pivot points for the lower a-arms, checked the distance measurements on the left lower a-arm against the right lower a-arm, pulled and checked the left shock mount to see if it had been modified and it hasn't. Well, I think I win the "I knew I probably shouldn't have done that" prize for the day. Last week I power washed the engine on my '78 1500. I proceeded to drive it for about 20 minutes, after I cleaned the engine. Everything was fine. Today I go to start it up - turn the key - nothing. No clicking, nothing. Well... I don't think he is pulling your leg, David... rather, I think there is a misunderstanding. Moisture in brake fluid is, as far as I know, a bad thing in any event. Non-silicone fluids hold moisture in suspension whereas the silicone stuff does not. So, you could say silicone, by allowing the moisture to puddle at system low points (like the calipers wherein the moisture can cause corrosion!) keeps the moisture "away" from the rubber seals? Which one is worse when it comes to corrosion, is anyone's guess insofar as your's truly has no idea!! Loods like your... MORE


what have you got against alignment specialists?! Seriously, once you get it something near, by whatever method you come up with, I'd get it checked out properly. There could be a problem with the string from the rear wheel method, as the front and rear track aren't the same (the difference is not so much for Rostyles as for wire wheels) One way of doing it would be to use a plumb line from the front wheel rim, front and rear (you'll probably have to use a spacer to clear the tyre) and mark the equivalent point on the... Don, I expect you will get many replies on this one but here's my two cents' worth....... I experienced your frustration initially with being totally unable to see where the heck to start welding, but my solution was really simple: you must have really good strong light onto your target area. I whenever possible took my welding job outside into good daylight, preferably strong sunshine - this makes a world of difference. How are the starters failing? I can't see that it would be the regulator. When you start you start from battery voltage, the engine isn't turning fast enough for the alternator to bne doing anything. Hiya Not that I'm in the US or will be able to participate in this, but it sounds like a wonderful idea to me. The only aspect that gives me the wobbly's, being a purist, is the thought of spraying this car metallic gold! The crankcase pressure is in and of itself the propellent in a "ventilated" rather than "evacuated" system, the former of which I prefer for exactly the reason you state in your post to Guy Weller....less dilution of already diluted octanes. Fr'instance, I think it was Chris who mentioned dragsters with vacuum pumps hooked up to evacuate crankcase pressure and considering THEIR applications I can well nigh understand this, considering THEIR crankcase pressures!! Don... The smog pump injects air into the exhaust after the combustion process so no re-tuning needed. Whatever horsepower is lost from the engine (5?) driving the pump is returned to the driveline (yhaay!). Doesn't sound like much but as a percentage of what the engine normally produces it ain't bad, is it? :) We cut the manifold off at the fittings to the cylinder head and retained these, closing them shut with a drop of lead or solder...I forget what we used it was so long ago. G'day all I thought the following note was worthy of publication. avagoodday Colin I nearly set my MGB on fire last Sunday night (26th May). I put a battery charger on the battery at about 8pm. As you know the two 6 volt batteries are under a cover behind the seats. Driving my '76 midget, at above about 2500rpm, especially in higher gears (it happens before 2500, just very minor), i get a vibration, and an un-nerving "vibrating sound" that seems to be coming from up front, passenger's side. I considered tire balance, and rotated them.. no fix. I thought it might be starved of fuel at high rpm, so i changed the fuel filter, then rebuilt the carb (needed done anyway) i thought about timing advance, so i changed the vacuum line to the distributor. I'm all out of ideas, you all have any before I exhaust my wallet... MORE
