=0D In my opinion, it is down to the individual that is using the equipment Yuchol. I have used both, electric and air tools. I use an electric grinder near enough on a daily basis and have no problems with it. I also have a separate electric orbital sander (for feathering the edge of the paint). Th e air tools have a little more flexibility as you can adjust the speed on the m I would recommend buying single items rather than a 2 in 1 sander/grinder. =0D =0D =0D =0D Gary King (Newcastle UK)=0D 69 Sprite MKIV=0D 67... Hello all! I was thumbing through my new Victoria British Catalog this evening when I came across a part that my 78 Midget seems to be missing. I found it on page 73 of the fall 2002 edition. It appears to be the part that opens the vacuum supply to the EGR valve when the engine is cold. On an American vehicle this would be called a thermostatically controlled Ported Vacuum switch. I can find nothing remotely similar in the catalog. Can anyone Identify this part? It is not numbered or labled in anyway in VB's catalog! Help! I... MORE

Various reprinted roadtests give the kerb weight as from 1720 lbs (UK spec with oil, water and half full tank); 1825 lbs; 1725 lbs; 1775 lbs (this from an R&T group test which also gives the F/R distribution of 52/48); 1820 lbs (Car and Driver this time F/R distribution is 51.6/48.4); up to 1835lbs. To reduce weight, take the steel armatures out of the bumpers for a start - I think they weigh about 100 lbs for the two or take the bumpers off altogether; take the glass and winders out of the door and replace with perspex, take... I'm thinking of producing a new size/price range for my British car illustrations. The print would be 5x7 in an 11x14 matte. Price would be $25 which includes the matte. Shipping would be another $5 in the US. Everyone that has these just loves them. I ordered a side entry distributor ignition wire set from Victoria British. The illustration on page 115 item 8-292 shows a set of wires with termination caps for the spark plugs. Today they arrived and all they are is a set of cut lengths of wire stuck through rubber boots, no terminals on the spark plug end just straight cut off wire. I have a side feed distributor cap so cut ends are called for on that end. My old set of wires have only a couple of ohms of resistance, and have stranded wire conductors. The new wire... MORE

Martyn, where I come from the terms for some of the body working materials are a bit different, but I think your glazing compound is a bit like our 2 pack polyester stopper (very thin bondo type material for filling small imperfections). If this is the same material, you will need a primer filler over it before you can apply any paint over it, as the base & clear will sink straight into the glazing compound. Guys- Just heard from RHD lister in UK who states: "His car is inclined to incline to the right, except when going right, when it is inclined to right itself!" So there you have it. As a fellow lister put it months ago: The unibody takes a "set" over time. End of story! :) Cap'n. Bob '60 :{) PilotRob@... 14799... MORE

Well, I agree with most of the responders. Probably points, condenser or rotor cap. Why not take quick and easy compression check. Could be timing chain, or head gasket, but I would hope for the best and look for the easy stuff first. Bill French '59 AN5 Hilton Head frenchww@... 14722... MORE

Well, I thought it was a good idea, can understand why you wouldn't want to fly on your time off, now you will have to spend 8 hours driving up with all the excitement I-5 has to offer. I wanted to drive it down to the British Car show in Palo Alto Sunday. All of 38.4 miles from home but I still do not have enough confidence in it to make that "long" journey. Could be after not running for 15 years it just wants to get out and exercise. I fear it will stop and I will be... MORE

LOL, Chris! I get enough flying when on duty but the carrot cake and coffee does sound pretty good! It's just that something does not sound right here in my experience with Series "A" and "B" engines which includes two MGA's, a number of B's and my original (high school) 948 Bugeye in addition to my current 1293 frogeye. In all cases, starting in all but winter temps. hardly ever involved use of the choke. A little pump on the pedal while cranking usually starts any of the LBC's I've run. Rarely was more than very temporary use of... MORE

Hi all I have just noticed a thread about negative camber, we have done extensive testing over the years and found 1.5 to 1.8 deg of camber to be the optimum for grip and no more than 1 deg if you just want good balanced handling. The more camber you have the twitchier the response and the quicker the handling can snap into over steer. when looking for good handling one of the first things to make sure is that all bushings, dampers and links are in good condition, check for any irregularities and camber caster and general alignment... David is right. You get static negative camber but at the price of inferior suspension geometry. Go for the neg camber trunnions You can buy them somewhere in the range US$60 - US$70 last time I looked from Tony Bennetto at the Bugeyebarn in Melb Australia. bugeyebarn@... He does lots of mail-order, so I am sure he can accomodate you. Mike p.s. I never take my Sprite out in the rain either Steve, not on purpose anyway but sometimes with our British weather, you get caught out. I have never had my hood off the car (totally removed) so I don't know whether you would need it or not, but apart from holding the retainers for the tonneau cover I would imagine it will also hold the rear of the hood securely in place. I would say you will require it. Gary King (Newcastle UK) 69 Sprite MKIV 67 Morris Traveller "Gaz" 14605... MORE
