First question. In the Moss Parts Manual (on page 106) it shows something called a "Retaining strip, hood to rear of cockpit". It looks as though this strip goes on the outside of the hood, and seals it against the rubber rear-cockpit sealing strip, being held in place by the same screws that hold the "dot" fasteners for the tonneau/hood cover. Is that correct? And do I really need one? (I never take the Sprite out in the rain if I can help it!) Second question. On page 116, the Parts Manual shows an optional cushion for the rear... MORE

We were sorry to have missed this years Coventry Run, but by the time e got the dates, we were already committed to the 10th Dukeries Run, which we did in Poppy, our Mk 1 Midget. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that favourite runs are on the same day. You would think that all the run organisers would get together and try to avoid clashing. Never mind, maybe next year. I recognise the car in the 16th pic, from this months MG Car Club 'Safety Fast' mag - it's a K-series powered car from New Zealand which the Walbran family shipped over and used in the California Cup Autotest. I'd be interested to know what the non-standard steel wheels are. David "David Jacobs" 14569... MORE

If there isn't a level indicator, I would probably play safe and fill to half way. I have a modern car for every day use and that water level is about half. Hope this helps. Regards, Gary King (Newcastle UK) 69 Sprite MKIV 67 Morris Traveller "Gaz" 14562... MORE

George, Is it possible that the fulcrum pin was just sheared off?... or did it actually "rip out" the rear hole where the A-Arm attaches to the frame? When I was re-doing my suspension, I was thinking that this seemed to be a "weak spot" in the design. You can get a replacement front frame assembly from Victoria British for about $450... but replacing it would involve a complete engine and front suspension removal... not my idea of fun. By the way... did you hit a rock, or pot hole, or something like this? Wouldn't this be covered in... MORE

Hi Folks, Could I please ask a favour from y'all. When replying to a previous message . PLEASE Don't include the complete thread , just the relevant part will suffice. Ref Brees TYRE SAGA . 77,000 miles on tyres. I know Brees a grannie but surely she's not that old to have wheels with wooden spokes and steel tyre bands fitted to achieve that mileage, I have just managed 5,500 miles on the back tyre of my Bandit - other owners get between 500 and 3000. I must ride like a wuss. Car tyres in England generally last around... MORE

Has anyone here ever used British Masters for their MG parts? I live in SoCal, and I ordered over $100.00 worth of parts from them on the 19th. I was promised the parts would be here by the following Monday. Here it is the 29th, and still I have no parts. So, I called them and very politley asked if they could tell me when they were shipped and if they had a tracking number. Turns out they haven't even shipped them yet! Talk about P*ssed off! Jamed starter motor, and the rocking motion freed it. I have known this happen in many types of cars, in fact it happened to me a few weeks ago with my Honda N600, and with my Midget the next day. Sadly, in both cases, I had to replace the starter motors. But it was not the first time it had happened to either car. So my guess is that it is time to invest in a new starter motor, and when it jams too often, then fit the new one! It could happen in a few days, then again... MORE

At Heathrow, a 300-foot long red carpet is stretched out to Air Force One and Mr. Bush strides to a warm but dignified handshake from Queen Elizabeth II. They ride in a silver 1934 Bentley limousine to the edge of central London where they board an open 17th century coach hitched to six magnificent white matching horses. As they ride toward Buckingham Palace, each looking sideways and waving to the thousands of cheering Britons lining the streets, all is going well. Dear listers, I always like it when I see a Bugeye mentioned in the national press somewhere. In the latest issue of Road and Track on page 21 is a "Nigel Shiftright" cartoon. He is that "veddy veddy British chap who likes to drive a "TC". I can't scan the cartoon but I am sure someone on the list who has a Road & Track can scan and post it somewhere somehow. If anyone else is desperate, I can xerox it and fax to you. Cheers, Bob in San Diego. "Robert D. Gardner" 14380... MORE

Hi All, Thanks to those who answered my question on the best engine oil to use, now using 15W/50 mineral oil (Valvolene). Anyway, I now have another concern, I changed the engine oil from the running in oil to standard stuf after 300 miles, I have now just changed the oil again after completing the running in (1000 miles), all seems OK oil presure good, no oil being burnt. But, I noted the residual oil in the bottom of the oil filter bowl, was contaminated with very fine metal particals, if it wasnt bright and sunny it probably would... MORE

Hi, Please can any of you help to put my sister's mind at rest? She has been in the USA for the past 15 months, so her visa has expired. She now wants to come home, so we have got her a return ticket, (US - UK - US) as a one way ticket would cost nearly twice that of a single one. She only intends to use the outward part, i.e. not return to the US. But she is worried about security at the airport, in case they refuse to let her leave the country unless she has... MORE
