Last time I had to bleed the clutch, used an Easibleed to get most of the air out of the system. That didn't work, so got a piece of wood and wedged the clutch pedal down and left it down overnight. In theory, this allows the air in the system to rise up and takes advantage of the fact that the master cylinder is way above the slave. This also gave time to go away and think about the problem. By the time I returned the follwing day, theory and fact had met and the clutch has worked fine... MORE

Hi all, If this list will not accept forwarded items, it can easily be overcome. Just copy the contents to a new e-mail, and edit out any unwanted or un-necessary c**p, like I have done with the following received from my son the other day. Advanced Math was one such item. MAKES YOU WONDER HOW THESE PEOPLE CAN SURVIVE!!!! A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the internet and they asked... MORE

Dear all, especially Jeremy, Doug, David and Bob, Thanks for your help with the problem. Bashing with a mallet and drift didn't work (just pulled bits of rubber off) so I burnt the rubber off them, then tapped the metal ring out. Not pretty, a bit messy, but effective and rather satisfying! Thanks again Chris '58 Frogeye, South Wales "howes" 13276... MORE

That's true and of course the generator is not 100% efficient. However, the electric water pumpt does not run all the time. However in most climates the standard cooling system should work fine if in good condition with a quality pump. Oil cooler, watter wetter and an electric fan will also help you win the battle. Any spare heat you folks have can be parcelled up and sent to the British Isles! "Jeremy Cogman" 13268... MORE

Yes you can, I've done it albeit on Dad's mk2 Jag which we've just installed one on. Where you put the light to tell you whether the 'points' are open is a bit of a mystery. I phoned Aldon, the Petronix agent in England and they were unsure (unlike them, very knowledgeable people) so I fiddled with care. In the end I found out that it worked between the coil and ground (the Jag is +ve earth) but wierdly not between the petronix and the coil, probably something to do with the relative impeadances of bulb and coil though... Holy leaning tower of Pizza, Batman.........sorry couldn't resist that one. Right, being more sensible, my Sprite used to lean to the right (drivers side) but, used to be left hand drive for four years. Anyway, when it was in for an MOT I mentioned to the tester that it leaned over to he right and while he was testing the car, noticed a small metal block placed in-between the front left hand spring. All I done was take it out, and swap it over to the right hand front spring. The car sits perfect now. You can buy the... MORE

I hope this isn't against list rules... Before I place this item on E Bay, is anyone interested in purchasing a O.E. full tonneau cover, in very good condition, with headrest pockets? It should fit 1970-1974 Midget MK4s without rollbar. My car, alas, has a rollbar. Reasonable offer accepted, plus covering shipping. Sorry, no stowage bag. If interested, e-mail me and I will send photos of the cover and any other details you need. I just "exploded" a starter solenoid in my 76 MG Midget... not sure why it "POPPED" like it did... It happened when I put a battery charger on my battery isolater to charge both the front and the rear (dedicated to the stereo) batterys... Anyhow... I got the solenoid off of my donor car, also a 76... to put in... but this one is missing a terminal on it. The one that "blew up" had a 4 spade connectors on it... two with double brown wires, one set going to the fuse box, the other coming from the alternator... MORE

Hi Gary I do my greasing points about once a month since the front suspension is a weak point in the Sprite's design and keeping it well lubricated can only help. The grease points are as follows;- One on inner end of lower wishbone at pivot point (some people put one at each end which is quite a good idea) One on lower part of stub axle / king pin assembly One on upper part of stub axle / king pin assembly One on the track rod end (unless it has been replaced with a later sealed for life... Well Boys and Girls The Bugeye calender (along with the screensaver) has arrived, and as promised I'd let you know what you're missing...Very little really. It's 22cm X 28cm with a very bad matt colour print of a red Bugeye on the front with Austin Healey wings underneath. The Bugeye I don't recognise. It has a (blanked out) Illinois number plate, A front bumber and stone guards on the headlights. The photos inside are 15cm X 9.5cm glossy and of better quality except that he has made them fit the template of the calendar so therefore are either stretched... MORE
