DOG!! You never mentioned a DOG! What happened to the German shepherd? Guy "Guy Weller" 10300... MORE

Yes but what did you do about the black German shepard. Didn't he have his own ideas about this? Sounds like you are not a very "pc" person Rob! {;-) Guy "Guy Weller" 10298... MORE

That's it!! You are "sicko", Guy.....one minute you are talking to yourself, send yourself posts, and the next minute you are attacking PilotRob's "innocent" remarks in his "welcome aboard" post to new lister, Chris, implying weird sexual conotations ("not that there is anything wrong with this") to a German shepard. You know, of course, that German shepards are unionized. Methinks you will shortly be receiving their attorney's letter on this!! :) Cap'n. Bob '60 :{) PilotRob@... 10301... MORE

Hi, Chris, and "welcome aboard". Yep, it works the other way 'round, for sure, IMHO. I met my "very best" (thus far) female buddy 'cause she was driving by in her little VW Bug convertible ("flowers" all over it) with her black German shepard occupying the seat next to her. 2nd time I had seen her thus. Not exactly a "sports car" I admit but, a "fun car", nevertheless. And she WAS cute. I was 34, recently single again, and "ready" and "lookin'", so the "timing" was there! Turned around and followed her to her house, where I approached... MORE

Greetings, If any of the listers in the UK are in the habit of scouting swap meets or old book stores for parts books and shop manuals, I have been looking for either for Morris Minor Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV's). If you should come across either, I would appreciate a little help acquiring them. Thank you. Gerard Gerard 10278... MORE

About 10 years ago we were returning from a London to Edinburgh Classic Car Run, driving our MGB GT, when we thought we had a bit of wheel wobble. So we stopped the car, checked all the wheels, and they seemed OK. We then pulled away from the hard shoulder, and the back end of the car went down. We didn't see where the wheel went, it just came off and disappeared!!. To this day we have no idea what happened to it, although we spent ages searching for it, as it was not only a new tyre, but... Which British cars have the same lug nut thread sizes as the MG Midget? I have a set of Mag Wheel Lug Nuts that I purchased from England, and I want to put them on eBay... so, it would be nice if I could say, "also fits...." Thanks, Brett "Brett LaCroix" 10249... MORE

Hey, good morning guys! Do me a favor....keep your eye (or both eyes, as the case may be!) on the list for an answer from "Paul A." (copy to Pixelsmith) regarding what British cars might come with these gears as a clue as to where or in what, they might be found. I sent him a mail this morning and hopefully he will copy in the list in his reply, assuming he got my mail. You guys have a good time while I fly the friendly skies!! Talk "later" and thank you both~!! :) Cap'n. Bob '60 :{) PilotRob@...... MORE

Yes Jeremy - I've had several as well but my Norton AV has picked them up as they've come in. No idea where they're from - my philosophy is - if it has an attachment and I don't know the sender, it gets binned. Steve Clark Soouthampton, UK "Steve Clark" 10125... MORE

"How and where do I check/fill shocks?" Well, Stanley Hill, I am going to leave this to those who still have and run lever shocks. I have not used them for years so we'll let a lister with current use and knowledge answer this one. (Should the vehicle be raised, or not, etc.) I know they are filled to the top of their reservoirs with a special shock oil which is formulated with "anti-foaming" and "seal-sweller" additives. This oil is available from Moss, Victoria British and the other usual suspects. I used to know guys who mixed this oil... MORE

Grant Bowyer: Thank you for the informative New Zealand MG website, The handling and carb stuff was excellent "recurrent" training for stuff I pretty much already "knew". However: The information on extractor exhausts and WHY the LCB works so much better than the short 3 into 1's (for the "road") I found extremely informative and interesting; "knew" this but didn't know exactly "why". Every one talks about the "negative sound wave" but no one has ever explained it to the extent Paul Walbran does. ("Ahhh.....so that's what's happening with the exhaust pulses {or, is that pulsi}.....Ah, hah!) Very cool!... MORE

Paul- Be guided by the knowledge in Grant's post regarding the rear rollbar but "prove" it in a parking lot on a dry AND rainy day to your satisfaction. The rear bar "brings back" some of the "oversteer" removed by the "heavy" front bar so sudden "breakaway" can definitely occur. Tire, tread, compound and air pressure all bear on how "sudden" and at what point in "G" force this will occur. Try it with and without the rear bar and decide for yourself. Locating the back axle (side to side) with a Panhard set-up does seem like the best... MORE

Ok, Paul, here goes! As your's is a street machine, get new bushings to begin with, of course. Poly and Nylatron will both work and they will stiffen things up but, the ride will become much harsher with these and the poly will squeak and grind in time, no matter what grease you initially use; eventually, the lubrication will "go" (BTDT). Now, if you can live with these sounds, fine. I could not and went back to stock rubber. Handling in all respects didn't suffer much, but ride was much better and it bought the "peace and quiet" back!... MORE

Hylomar is a blue sticky substance that was originally developed for Rolls Royce. ( I think it was for aero engines , Merlin etc as used in the real spitfires ) Used as an all purpose gasket sealant. Now made by Hammerite products , Prudhoe, Northumberland NE42 6LP (England) 'Phone 01661 830000 Appears to be the same recipe that I used to use 20 years ago. Was very good then, should be now. There are also special invitation dates when Friends can visit parts of the distillery not open to the public. Two of them are only open to Friends. Hi Curt (this is still fun, isn't it?) Carlson Yeah, fascinating. What would be nice is if TeleAtlas put Lancashire (a U.K. County) back on their UK 2001 CD! It would appear that someone did a search/delete/replace for Lancashire and inserted a small town called Blackrod! Tele Atlas won't say what language their data CD is written in (C++?). If it is, I might just have a go at making my own corrected CD so I can navigate easier when driving the everyday transport. U.K. Ordnance Survey do put their own 'mistakes' onto their maps and you can usually... MORE

Well after surfing the internet for over a week, I finally found some new lower a-arms. British Racing Green has a pair and are now on the way. Thanks to everyone who responded to my looking for them. It sure seems strange that most of the places/sites I tried have them on back order. Apparently there is a run on them right now as everyone must be rebuilding their front ends at the same time. Well they should be in Monday and I will once again be driving the Midget by Wednesday.
