What make is it in that case so we can avoid them! I run a Kenlowe as a sucker (i.e. behind the rad), with a v-flow rad and a tuned 1275 and even in traffic on very hot days (yes we do have them sometimes in England) it's always fine (touch wood). I run an oil cooler too which I'm sure helps. "Jeremy Cogman" 10010... MORE

Rob , if you're on line I 'll resend my original reply (a bit tongue in cheek , but true ;o)) let me know if its what you originally received. Quote Surely... MORE

I have the Bentley book and have considered scanning and posting to the web the wiring diagram, but I am a bit queasy about the copy right issue. Does "British Leyland UK Limited" still exist? If not, then it is no big deal to do it, I imagine. In the meantime, here is a place to buy a copy of the book, new. http://www.mg-midget.com/midget/booksm.html Steve '78 Midget "my1978mgmidget" 9915... MORE

Dear listers, Some time back I responded to a thread about single malt Scotch by sharing my experience of a single malt tasting session in Scotland in the Single Malt Scotch Society tasting room. A number of listers contacted me for more information. I promised to supply the list with the address and telephone number but I have not been able to find it in my notes. Second best, I just saw a blurb in the current Playboy and I will pass it on to you all, in case some one is interested... Usual disclaimers except I do enjoy... MORE

=0D I have just had the same problem on my daily driver, a Rover 200 Diesel. Sounds as if it's the pads are getting stuck on. Remove the brake pads, and clean the bottom edge of the caliper where the pad sits into (it's normaly a little rusty) then add a little bit of copper grease to the cleaned area. B e carefull not to get any grease on those pads!=0D =0D Gary King (Newcastle UK)=0D 69 Sprite MKIV=0D =0D =0D "Gary King" 9894... MORE

Chris, Any good tool supplier should be able to provide you with one. I'd recommend a socket and long breaker handle with a swivel end. If you use a spanner, you'll end up fouling by the body panels. If you can't find swivel end breaker bar, you can add an extension to get you out a little further from the body. remember that one side (left) is a reverse thread. I believe you're in the UK so I don't know your tool suppliers. Gerard "gerardchateau" 9838... MORE

Hi every one Any one know the best way to remove the 1 7/8 inch wheel bearing retaining nut? I haven't got a spanner that size - but would buy one if I could get hold of one! Should I try and get a socket, ring spanner or box spanner? If so, where from? Any knowledge of cheats gratefully received! Chris '58 Frogeye "howes" 9833... MORE

Tracked down a nasty missfire (admittedly at 90mph so no surprise when it happened) to a very loose distributor. Pinch bolt tightened to no avail - it looks tightened all it will go and i'm afraid something will break if i tighten any more. Is this something that can be fixed with a new bolt or is it likely to need a new distributor? These things are completely alien to me. Many thanks in anticipation. RE: John, Plymouth, UK (Hi, John! :) You know- I am not disputing this but, I never tighten down my distributor to the extent I can not turn it (with little effort) with two hands. I have never had it "move" on me, ever, in 2 spridgets and 1 frogeye in many, many years and miles. And that included a 5,000rpm sustained "cruise" down(up?) Rte. 95 between Stamford and Bridgeport, CT. at "o darkthirty" one AM. Of course, this was in my "younger days" driving my Vizard-tuned "1311" (man, that car was fun!!).
