David Thanks for this post. I'll be getting some of that I think - that's the best way to go, primer/stone chip/top coat. I have found a paint factor that can supply the cellulose, so I'll ask them about stone chip - I'm sure they'll have some. What was interesting, and may be of interest to others on the list in the uk, contemplating a cellulose respray, is that whilst the paint factor is happy to sell/supply cellulose paint, they won't deliver it to you. Whilst this is a minor inconvenience it's not a major problem. This is because,... MORE

hi, im sorry to bother you on this but i cant seem to get any definative info on whether to disconnect the breather to the 1 1/4 twin carbs on my uprated uk mk3 1275 midget, i have seen the use of breathers and catch cans but these do not actually provide negative pressure to the crankcase (or do they?) as if i leave it connected it to the carbs it does doesnt it? if i do go and use a catch can, should I fit a breather to the rocker cover as well? where is the best place... Hi, Bill French.... Should slip right in without problems. Big question...what was the actual running condition of the engine/driveline before the car's demise and has any damage been done to same because of the accident? You'll want to change the ring and pinion or differential as well over to the later '74 3.9 diff. assuming you are currently running the original BE's 4.22, unless you plan on using the car in short-track racing!! There is a whale of a difference in torque between the motors and the lower 4.22 just isn't as suitable for the road otherwise unless you... MORE

Hi all I'm just about to install the engine and gearbox on my frogeye - do I fit the gearbox mounting to the gearbox first, then bolt it into the car when the box is in position? Thanks Chris "howes" 21388... MORE

Happy Easter. Well, I am contemplating up grading the performance of my Stock '59 Bugeye with the running gear from a smashed '73 RWA Midget. I would like the full story from those"in the know" and those who have completed this work. I know the performance enhancement will be great, but it is a big step to change from a Stock, Original 948. There is a lot of sole searching going on !! I. Drive Train A. Engine and Trans. 1. "Petrol Cap"Chrome Headlight Rims" No doubt the headlight trim rings are either being sourced or out being re-chromed I'd think. The fuel cap is a "period" aftermarket type and used to be available at MiniSpares (MiniMania in the US), along with their "Monza" brushed or chrome "flip open" cap. These are actually fastened to the fuel filler neck with little set screws, normally meant to be used with an "inner" lockable cap which fits "inside" the "flip open" outer cap. I have a Monza chrome type on mine. These outer caps alone are now going for (hold onto your... MORE

Ian states in part, "Have a great Easter weekend". I certainly plan to Ian, and "Happy Rabbit" to you as well! :) Silver Frogeye: He hasn't found a suitable pair of chrome trim rings for those headlights yet, or has and they are out for re-chroming most likely, to match the great stuff already on the car. He has done a beautiful job on the BE, hasn't he??!! :):) And yes....the Jag should be awesome assuming he does similiar work on same. A question for all those with experience of the 'bar in pocket' type hood to screen fixings i.e. late frogs, Sprite 2s and Midget 1s. I fitted a new hood about a year ago. In all other respects it is excellent but above 70-80 mph the bar sometimes pulls out of the screen frame leaving the hood attached only by the two lift-the-dots on the corner, this can be a little allarming! The new hood has a little seam that sticks up where the pocket is formed so you get a tab about 1/8 - 1/4 inch long sticking... MORE

Jason Coincidentally I just picked up a 1965 Sprite here in the UK as a restoration project however mine runs and drives (not roadworthy though) great view of the road through the floor. I imagine we will both be doing a lot of the same things for a while. Getting back to your question your 5 gal can Idea should work OK as a way of getting over the holed tank problem, but I think you said in an earlier post that the car had stood for many years. If the car has stood for years without being turned... MORE
