Does the bonnet from a `68 Midget fit a `72 Midget? I see that the Moss and Victoria British aftermarket ones are the same from `61 to `76 but can`t find out about the origional one. Thanks, Dan danwigi@... 6188... MORE

I replaced my combined guage last weekend - oil fine, temperature part broken. The original guage gave the oil pressure at 50 when cold, 40 at warm idle. The new guage shows 100 at cold, 80 at warm idle. As others have said, perhaps this clearly shows that you can't put too much reliance on the dial reading. My reference book suggests (flywheel figures): - 1500 - 66 brake horsepower & 77lb ft torque 1275 - 65bhp & 72lb ft 1098 (10cc i.e. 2" main) - 59bhp & 65lb ft 1098 56bhp & 62lb ft 948 46bhp & 53lb ft I suspect all figures are for UK spec cars James "James Bilsland" 6132... MORE

Hello all, Since last week Ive lifted the engine complete with gearbox. This last week ive opened up the engine (and cried like a baby) Ive decided to have the cylinders bored and honed (too worn out for another option) and the rebuilder will place the pistons with crank. From from then on Im on my own with regard to how I rebuild the engine. I posted a query sometime ago about a fast road engine, but the job of shipping the engine to England and back and the fact that I dont get my fingernails dirty have let... MORE

I have seen 65bhp for a UK market Midget 1500 - dunno if yours is strangled with smog equipment. But how much does his Honda weigh? And will it be around when it's 22 years (min.) old? And does he know that the power comes through the wrong wheels on his little shopping trolley/kart? And mine has 105bhp at least, so there younster! :-) Cheers, Phil FilMidget@... 6130... MORE

Thank you, Mike: The Carreras ARE expensive but also have an excellent rep for quality. Though I've about decided to go with the somewhat less expensive, multi- adjustable SPAXi, it's nice to know the "soft" setting on the Carrera will obviously work out for the street, as well. The GasAdjust K2's are simply too firm for the Frog's light rear. Thanks for the input, Mike; appreciate it! Cap'n. Bob '61 :{) PilotRob@... 6086... MORE

Willy, I was very sorry to hear of your sad loss. You did the right thing in taking your Mom for a ride when you did, rather than wait for better weather. Thanks Brad. By the way, My frogeye was also originally LHD and exported to Paris, France in October 1958. It was repatriated back to England in 1967 and converted (back?)to RHD around that time. I'd say more for practical reasons than anything else. She was originally Primrose Yellow (now Rosso Red) and I think I'll get her back that way again someday. Gary L AN5L(RHD) "Gary Lazarus" 6036... Hi Chris If it's a rolling shell you can check it (as I did mine) by chalk marking the diff flange and a wheel, rolling the car forward and comparing the number of turns. The four bolt holes in the flange are handy for estimating parts of a turn. This is simple easy and quick. Regards Dave (66 Sprite in the UK) "David Dixon" 6148... MORE

Hi Frank Nice web site. But why, assuming you're in the states why did you convert "pieces" to RHD? By the way many is the time that I wish my frogeye had roll up windows and a hood(roof) that you could just hop out/reach back and pull up. Gary L 1958 Frogeye "Gary Lazarus" 6033... MORE

1. Not sure about Dublin but England is very chilly in the mornings but quite dry and sunny during the day. Check out the latest at www.bbc.com/weather. 2. Herts is just North of London so train/cab or hire car should do it. If you have their postcode (zip) then go to www.multimap .com or www.streetmap.co.uk. Mail them to find their nearest station then use www.railtrack.co.uk to find train times. 3. Travel lodges are quite cheap and there are now at least two in central london http://www.travellodge.co.uk or another chain http://www.travelinn.co.uk. These should both be about in your price range.... MORE

I know this made the list a couple of years ago...but it's worth revisiting . Don't know of any 3.5 stock Spridgets though this ratio is offered by Victoria British, etc. I am currently using a 3.7 from a "late" USA Spridget in my stock 1098 engined Frog, hooked up to a 210 5 speed.
