Next year pre book online at www.mgcars.org.uk/mgcc , you will save =A35 per ticket (that is just over 3 pints of fine draught ale in the V8 Register tent:-). Tickets are per person not car:-( Sliverstone was quite excellent with great sunny weather. Simon Worby a 'reg' here was doing a stirling job organizing all the spridgetly things for the 40 years parade lap (and many other spridgetly things no doubt). I was on the circuit edge with Nikon and 400mm lens so hopefully will have something to post on the web/MASCOT/SF if I didn't suffer from too much... MORE

Hi All, just a quick note to report on Spridget motorsport. I took up the local Spridget group's invitation to visit the Gurston Down Hillclimb last weekend [The website link in previous discussion lists was handy for navigation directions & background info] and managed to catch class 1 (MG cars) in action. I was impressed with the whole thing: a 'proper' motosport venue under an hour from home, and having only been to vintage hillclimbs before (Austin 7, Riley, M-type midget etc), amazed at the 'modern' cars and technology involved. The MG community ranged from MGF's through Metro Turbos... MORE

Hi Jim I don't know the American equivalent, but a Mole Wrench is a kind of lockable Pipe Wrench or large lockable pliers, the sort of thing that dodgy Mechanics use in place of a spanner. The sort of thing you might use to clamp two pieces of metal together before you weld them. Hope this helps. Regards Dave (66 Sprite in the UK) "David Dixon" 1993... MORE

I hope this doesn't offend those who like to keep it stricktly technical. But I thought this too good not to share.................. Rocks: a meaning for life A philosophy professor (who drives a '59 Sprite) stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured... MORE

Does anyone know any details of a company in the UK that has or does produce frogeye replicas? Phil phild@... 1965... MORE

Phil - There was, of course, the woderful Frogeye Car Co. of the Isle of Wight. A few people on the list have experience of those (me included); but the firm's not trading anymore, though over a hundred were produced. And although most people won't part with them for love or money, they do occasionally come on to the second hand market. As regards heresy, there is a Mini - based kit produced by John Banham called (I think) the Sprint. It looks really good and even has a boot! He has a good website. There may be others.... MORE

Hi Jason I had a set of squareish black bullet shaped Mirrors on a 69 racing green Sprite I owned about 24 years ago, so I guess they were current issue at the time. These did not detract from the look of the car (in my opinion) and since they were black and stood slightly above the wings, and with the car being a dark colour, were not that noticeable and almost invisible at a distance. Don't know if they are still available though. Happy Sprigeting Dave (66 Sprite in the sunny UK) "David Dixon" 1957... MORE

a bill to implement a vehicle scrappage program died in committee when the legislature concluded its 1999 session. The measure also threatened to expand the state's emissions inspection program to include vehicles up to 35 model years old. Bill sponsor and Chairman of the House Environmental Regulation Committee Rep. Warren Chisum (R-88) made three unsuccessful attempts to pass the measure. The bill was beaten back by a coalition of resolute opponents that included the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the SEMA Action Network and automotive service and inspection professionals. As in other states, the Texas proposal provided for the... MORE
