Hi All I am just re-assembling my 1098 Mk3 sprite engine. Can anyone please advise on the best way to re-assemble the rear main bearing cap and the semi circular rear cover, to ensure it does not leak. It had some kind of silicone gasket componed on it when I took it apart. I also read in one of my manuals that the rear cover should not be disturbed. You can get the disk separately from Victoria British I think or you can get a "kit" that includes a new spring, disk and rubber O-ring (fits around the shift lever) from Motorhead. I think the kit is about $4. Good luck rlirwin@... 1903... MORE

Rick, I would love to see the pics. In the UK, I think we use "two penneth" which is a shortening of two pennies worth, I guess. Good luck with the one month deadline! Chris (looking for a rusty mk 1) "howes" 1901... MORE

Just to let everyone know (if anyone really cares), I am getting ready to rebuild my 1973 Midget pretty much from the ground up. Right now I drive it on a daily basis but due to it leaking oil and smoking so badly, my wife told me to rebuild the engine. From she told me go ahead and rebuild the front end, re-doing the interior and also to repaint the car. Who said you can't buy love, my wife certainly did!!!! Anyway, as I progress through the labor of love which I have been given only one month to... MORE

Hi Chaps, I have just cut some holes in my bonnet!!! No I haven't gone mad, it's just an attempt to add a little more cooling. Although I've put a new matrix on my Arkley, and added a Kenlowe, when the weather gets warm, Ha!, what here in the UK!!!, I still have to keep an eye on the temp guage, and it does sometimes start to hover around the 90 mark, (the engine temp!). I bought one of the air-intakes for the MGB heater scoop, and have fitted it to the bonnet just infront of the windscreen, in... MORE

Hi 'listers'/ Jim Fast road IoW Frogeye I have 330lbs rated at the front, lowered 1" married to Frontline's mono shock conversion. Coilover units at the back on a trick set-up with custom springs (longer travel), rated at 140Lbs. Trying to keep the back on the road at least 50% of the time! Ref Mike's comments on getting springs made. I agree, not as hard as you would think. I was able to quote steel grade, thickness, travel, number of coils and load in Lbs. They do it all the time and can help you spec. However it helps... MORE

Paul, I don't know if this will help you but here it is anyway. You might be able to get some good info out of this lot. Gary (Newcastle UK) 69 Sprite MKIV www.geocities.com/garys_sprite_site Facts You Should Know About Air Filters The primary function of an air filter is to clean the air before it enters the engine. If this is true, why do we see so many engines, especially expensive competition engines, without air filters? The answer is airflow. An engine's power output is proportional to the volume of air it can ingest at any given rpm, assuming... MORE

Folks: Last night when putting the midget into reverse ... the shift lever appears to have pulled out of the transmission (hidden under the cover, rubber shield etc). Is this a common problem? Now I can't engage gears forward or reverse. In anticipation of needing parts (beyond a bolt or two), could someone supply a name or two of a British parts supplier that would ship/mail to Canada. Moss Motors has only a partial listing for parts for the shift box on my 1975. Thanks in advance. Roger Siemens Saskatchewan, Canada 75 Midget rnsiemens@... 1808... MORE
