Hi All, In the midst of replacing my 1965 Midget gas tank with a new one from Moss of new england. The fuel line that goes from the tank to the pump was in poor shape so I snapped it off to replace it with new one. 1/4 inch line with what seems like 13mm threads. Kinda like a large brake line fitting that fits in the tank. Thought I had the bases covered but cant find anything local to work. Been to NAPA, carquest ect. Moss motors shows the part but no number. Any ideas on where to... MORE

Right good friends! Went for the "blast" to check out this new electronic set up. What a difference!! It is very noticably smoother at all revs, but very noticable at low down when just pottering along. It just ticks over with no engine snatch or hesitancy at all. One can even pull away from standstill without touching the accelarator, just gently ease up the clutch and off she goes! And, at the top end those orange and red segments come up on the tach without any discernable misfire at all, and all oh so smooooth! As you can tell... MORE

For those in the UK, Bromsgrove MG have presently got contactless (ie electronic) SU type (actually QH judging from the picture) fuel pumps on ebay at a buy it now price of 38 plus a fiver postage which is cheaper than conventional pattern ones at my local factors. End Tuesday morning. No interest in Bromsgrove MG just passing on the tip. Cheers Jeremy "Jeremy Cogman" 18817... MORE

It varies +/- earth too. I have to use a different location on my -ve Sprite to dad's +ve mk2 Jag. Sorry I can't remember where though. Annoying as I'll have to do it by trial and error next time too. I even called Aldon, Petronix's agent in the UK and they didn't know where to do it either. Cheers Jeremy "Jeremy Cogman" 18816... Maybe you are right, but I had UK spec '78 1500 and a '71 Sprite. I got a heavy duty track anti-roll bar for the 1500, and used the original spec 1500 one to replace the thinner one on the Sprite. I don't recall the sizes but the 1500 one was definately thicker. Guy "Guy Weller" 18781... MORE

Alex I understand you have a Moss out there? I have their UK parts catalogue here that lists complete anti-roll bar (sway bar) kits as follows: Anti-Roll Bar Kit - Standard (9/16") Part no. AJJ3358 76.38 GBP, approx 114.57 USD They also do roll bars alone, without the fitting kit which include the 3/4" and 7/8" diameter competition bars. Their performance section explains rolls bars as follows: 'It is important... MORE

David... Whatever the consequence, it would be anything but good, for sure...that's why the straps are there. But I can understand why you might remove them for off-road use under certain circumstances as in Bob G.'s case, also. But I'd definitely have 'em back on for the road, Dave, most especially 1/4 elliptic. BTW, you guys in the UK....just saw one of the new "AbFab" episodes which play over the Comedy Channel "over here".... still zany and funnier than hell!! Whoopee Goldberg in this one....hilarious! :) Cap'n. Bob (Ret'd) '60 Frog PilotRob@... 18786... MORE

Alex Anti-roll bars (sway bar) became standard on home market (UK) MG Midgets from GAN5-138801, and Australian assembled Midgets. They were optional on all North American Midgets until GAN6-203341 (December 1975) when they became a standard fitment. It became a BMC optional extra fromJanuary 1964. However an anti-roll bar kit was available from the Donald Healey Motor Company Ltd from the Austin Healey Sprite Mk1. Nigel "amukdigiphoto " 18765... MORE

Rio I don't think I've ever come across a review that criticised these little cars, but have read many that extoll their virtues. I, like probably everyone else on this list simply 'fell in love with my little Midget'. It was the first car I ever bought - going on the basis that if I were going to have to drive - I'd drive a car that was fun to drive'. So whats the appeal of them? They're not particularly fast in terms of top speed, nor acceleration, but the key word hear is 'fun'. Think in terms of... MORE

Rio, I too have bought a 67 Sprite non-running and have never driven one. I thought it looked neat and had that character not found on any new vehicle out there today. I keep imagining myself in my Sprite, all restored, looking good, out on the road with the sun shining down on me, and it just takes away all my daily worries and concerns. That is till I realize there aren't too many sunny days here in Seattle area. I also imagine what it would be like driving around town in it picking up women who are excited... MORE

Yes those seals for the spring boxes on QE cars have been NLA in the UK for as long as I've had the car 15 years. They are a bit of a double edged sword because anything that does get in is then going to be kept in. I just make sure the whole box is drenched in waxoyl. jeremy.cogman@... 18472... MORE

Yep, measured the piston again 1" dia. Have the dust cover just did not include it in the photo. Any ideas on why they went from a 7/8" bore to a 1" bore when the slave master is a 7/8 inch bore? "And odd thing to is the repair kit for the 7/8" bore is $3.25 and for the 1" is $13.95 this for a rubber seal and dust boot? I called Moss and they could not answer if the piston was different in the 1" than the 7/8" just that they had kits for both 7/8 and 1"... MORE

I'm going to make a dangerous assumption that you are in the USA and not the UK as the gauge sizes are different and wire gauge is different again from sheet gauge, but this site has THE US Code that covers it. If you look at http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/15/206.html you can find the official standard for sheet and plate iron and steel (brought to you by the department of verbosely repeated redundancies). Unfortunately, there's an error in the HTML on the page, and the table comes out looking bad. If you do a [View Source] it's more(!) readable :-) "David Jacobs"... MORE

Answer : An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was high on Scottish whiskey, followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines!
