Does it alter the way the car handles much? Doesn't modern day tele shock last longer than the original lever shocks? Since the cost seems to be about the same, I was somewhat interested. Do you like having them? Which ones did you get? I mean the conversion kit and the shocks themselves. Kim Yuchol 19265... MORE

Anyone here using telescoping shock conversion in the rear? Thanks in advance. Yuchol Kim Yuchol 19256... MORE

Listers, An opportunity to clean some garage clutter. I am looking to purchase lever shock absorber cores (used units). I am traveling with truck from Madison, WI to Alber...err, Alburk... ummm Albuquerque (yeah, that's it) NM, and back the weekend of Feb. 28 thru March 3 (?). The route will be through St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, I think... and back (maybe.. unless the weather's nice;-) Seeking mostly front cores. Price based on application and condition. (need not work) This will be a "mad dash", so not much time for deviation. Got any? email me, or call 800 362-1025... MORE

Oops, Sorry Nigel, forgot you were in the land of RHD. It is interesting how they set up the car to run either RHD or LHD. I was just noticing yesterday that mine has all the mountings to move the pedals to the right hand side. Thanks Mark Howard "Mark Howard " 19215... MORE

Mark Yeah its good to know, someone else is of the same view as me on this. As far as the air pump anti-smog stuff - mines a home market RHD, not sure they were ever fitted with that. Nigel "amukdigiphoto " 19209... MORE

I guess I'm one of the lucky 30% then :-) Once the tapered pin was out, which refused to come out while it was on the car, I was lucky enough to be able to remove the whole unit and work on it on the bench, the fulcrum pin just screwed out happily, There was a whole load of grease around it, which I guess helped to stop if from getting seized. I think the PO had the whole front suspension rebuilt not long before I bought the car which would explain why it came out so easily. Nigel... MORE

Sorry to say...but you'll probably need an angle grinder to remove them....At least that's how I've done it after trying to rescue / preserve them for hours (and a lot of @#!#!!). Most of the suspension probably needs to be rebuilt anyway, so what the heck... Good luck, Eeg. Eeg.Oberije@... 19162... MORE

And it feels like 40 years ago! Really, it was a big shock growing up in a small town no where Montana and now the past feels ancient. Yeah, I'll be 30 here in May and that's depressing me too. I never thought I'd hit 20 and now, knocking at the door to 30, what's next?? I know, I'll get some hate mail from "old" folkies here but I feel a lot older than 30, even my body agrees. OK, I'll shut up, no sympathy here I guess... Kim Yuchol 19195... MORE

Who knows, if Jesus had a gun and a gun rack, he might have been able to feed more than 4,000 people. I would personally have preferred a nice philly cheese steak sandwich over fish and bread. Kim Yuchol 19175... MORE

I guess you make a better oriental than me, I didn't even know it was 4,700th Chinese year. Actually, it all depends where you're from. I graduated from high school in 1993 (I know, I'm a young punk) and we drove to school with gun racks and rifles in pickups. No one said anything or even make fuss about it. That was then, after Columbine, it all changed. For us Montanans, it was no big deal. We'd go hunting after school, go gopher shooting or what not, and nobody really raised concerns about having guns on school property. But... MORE

This is Year 4,700 on the Chinese calendar celebrated Feb 1 through Feb 15th. I was visiting home one year and one of my many nephews showed me the new gun rack he made in his church summer school class . . . a wood gun rack with a picture of Jesus on it. I kid you not. Gas sniffing was more fun when all you had was lead in it . . . who knows what fuel injector additives do to your brain cells. :-) . Don "Don May" 19170... MORE

I've been sniffing gasoline out in the garage, what 4,700? Don, you've given me a great idea. A gun rack... You might see one on a pickup truck, but never see one mounted on the back of a Spridget. That would be a sight to see. Kim Yuchol 19167... MORE

Is there a way I can remove the fulcrum pin in my 67 Sprite without getting it all joed up? I removed the front plug and I see a slotted end at the pin but I don't want to ruin the slot by forcing it. Thanks in advance. Yuchol "yucholian " 19154... MORE

Yuchol, I'll assume that you have removed the coil spring as part of trying to remove the fulcrum pin. Where the fulcrum pin goes through the kingpin there is a tapered pin that goes thru the back of bottom journel of the kingpin base with a nut on the bottom. The pin can be a bugger to get out without destroying it when removing it. This pin locks the kingpin and fulcrum together. Once the tapered pin is out, the fulcrum pin can be screwed out using the slot in it's end. Biff Jones '59 Bugeye 'Kermit' '61 Sprite... MORE

Thanks i thought that may be the case but never had a chance to check any out.Even though i have 76 I much prefer the early chrome bumper cars I have already changed the front end and installed a grill. The rear however is a bit harder to do. i simply made up a couple of filler blocks from 2x4's and fiberglass for each spot under the tail lights, molded to appear like the older rear quarters. But some day i intend to replace the rear pan.Dont have any bumpers but hey i like it that way. Jens Maudal... For $2K you get a nice mildly tuned thick-flange 1275 which will go well on today's garbage octane premium unleadeds, from a guy who has successfully built and raced these motors himself and who is a pleasure to do business with. Where are the firecrackers? So quiet around here . . . Out buying duct tape and plastic wrap? Kim, take a break from mounting that gun rack on the back of your Midget roll bar and celebrate the year of the ram. Don "Don May" 19074... MORE

G'day Brad You need a line with a 3/8" UNF male fitting, and a double flare (or "ball" flare"), on both ends. Is this your left hand drive or the right hand drive car? If RHD, then no, the brake line will not reach. The original clutch line was 57" long - remember it should have a double loop approx 2" in diameter, to take up the engine vibration and stop the line from fracturing. The brake line from the 4-way junction to the L/H front wheel is long enough, but has the wrong fitting on the wheel end... MORE

you ought to get out there more! - you don't need to lift it, only a (not sure what to call it - a sharp movement? a thump?) to overcome the detent spring thing. Thisi s something that I imagine must be a bit harder on left hand drive cars as you are hitting the gear lever away from you 'backhanded' Regards David "David Jacobs" 18942... MORE

Don, I had a problem where the shift lever "reverse gate" detent ball was to hard to depress (possibly because of wear causing a too-deep detent "socket") and it was very difficult to get the shift lever laterally across the gate to the reverse position plane. I simply took the detent ball and spring out and judged that there was still enough "feel" and sense of lever position to guard against inadvertent/unintended selection of reverse, as long as only I were to drive the car. This being said, I haven't yet got it all back together to drive it!... MORE
