Steve....
It DOES sound like a battery that is no
longer "holding" a charge, assuming
cables and connections (especially
"grounds") are in good order.
Most mechanics/shops have a battery
load checking device which can be
hooked up to check the battery's
dynamic cranking power. Thi should
uncover a "bad" battery in a heartbeat,
"static" condition notwithstanding.
