The noise laws differ from town to town
I am sure. Your local town hall types could point the way in this
respect as to
what rules might be in effect in your area,
and under the circumstances, I would become familiar with them, along
with EPA laws on disposal, painting, etc.
Things are different from when I grew
up and was doing this work in what was
at the time a blue collar residential area.
I am not sure what would and would not
be tolerated today.
But there is another side to this when it
comes to being "neighborly". You want to
tell them that while you appreciate their position, your doing this work
yourself
rather than having it done professionally
is saving you literally thousands of dollars.
And, all the above is true. I mean, if there
was a way you could do this more quietly,
you would.
This is what I did with my neighbors when
I got the old grinder out and the complaints started coming in. Let them
know when the grinding phase is expected
to be over. This approach definitley helped me out. Were it not for the
grinder,
there probably wouldn't have been any
complaints to begin with. This noise is
definitely THE PITA one!! :):)
