I can't seem to adjust to the idea of not having traditional fender beading.
The problem is because of previous fender damage and damaged, bent and
missing areas of beading I separated the fenders from the top to repair them
and then MIG tack welded them back together along the top seam down in the v
grove where the tack welds are easily covered with bondo without installing
beading because it is easy to tack weld the seams on top then underneath
grind small v shape groves in the sandwiched edges and tack weld there too.
That leaves me rounded off fender tops without the traditional beading. If
I buy and put back beading I can only weld the sandwiched layers seams
underneath and it is hard to get at an angle to drill and tack weld. I
suppose if I had a spot welder I could do that but even then without special
clamp heads the rounded fenders limit the width of the welder clamps. Should
I just accept smooth top fenders or does anyone have any good idea how to
bond just the top of the T shaped beading to the seams with enough strength
it will not pop loose?
