Oh, yeah. My older brother always wanted to be a millionaire and today
is a very wealthy man...his association with Armani has made him rich
but, he hates going to
work and has for many, many years despite the obvious financial payoff.
Different strokes for different folks. I
knew I was in trouble with him when we
were discussing life by the pool of his
Alpine, NJ mansion and he told me I
didn't realize how lucky I was to be able
to look forward to going to work every
day. I told him luck had nothing to do
with it...you "pays your quarter, makes your choices. and takes your
chances"
just like everyone else. My values are
the same as his....just different priorities.
I chose it out of love, pure and simple.
He wasn't with me through all the training,
years of "on again, off again" work in a
regulated environment and tight labor market with respect to my chosen
profession.
He described me as the family "romantic".
Nothing romantic about getting tossed about in thunderstorms or
surviving
run-away trim on a takeoff close to the
ground (no room for error) or the dozen
other life-threatening events which the
profession throws at you from time to time
over 30 years and many thousands of
hours. You don't have to look for trouble..
it'll find you if you do it long enough.
I had "peopledoc" (fellow lister) refer
to airline pilots as glorified bus drivers....
like most who choose a profession for
primarily a buck (same mentality as my older brother)...he hasn't a
clue!! And he
never will! :)
It's quiet on the list this morning but
enough non-spridget talk...food time!! :)
