Sure you got that the right way round David?
If they were in series, then the current through each bulb is the same, and the same as the current in the feed wire.
But they are in parallel, and then the current through each is added up, and it all has to be supplied by the same feed wire so this carries the sum total of the current through each bulb.
Since the concern is the capacity of the feed wire to carry that current without overheating (depends on its resistance) I was asking if anyone knows what the rated capacity of the dashboard wiring is.
Or is my memory fading? It is a long, long time since I did this stuff at school!
