Thanks for your input.
All of the re-chroming cost more than it would have cost to have
bought replacements, although not by much. I had them
re-chromed for two reasons really - firstly I wanted to retain my
'original' parts as much as I could. Secondly, I've heard bad
stories of the 'quality' of new replacement parts being inferior
thickness steel and thinner chrome plating. I'd rather pay more
than the cost of buying a replacement, for 'quality' chroming on
my original parts. I was lucky - the front bumper blade and
over-riders were in good serviceable condition with no dings or
dents - just pitted chrome plating.
The yellow passivation items were done as a batch and really
wasn't that expensive and was easily less than the cost of
replacing them all.
I do believe quite strongly in re-using original parts if at all
possible, and I only buy new parts if I really have to.
