You're telling me about butt seam welding? Just after I've
finished all the welding on my car?
You're certainly right in one respect - you can minimize distortion
by tack welding and then seam welding, but I'm telling you - from
my experience and on that length of (largely unsupported) steel -
you WILL get some distortion - even though you're tack welding
to begin with - you can't avoid it.
It seems rediculous to me even suggesting butt welding that
floor in - for goodness sake do it right - remove that existing
piece, forget about butt or overlap welding - and weld it in
correctly to the inner sill. You avoid all the problems doing it that
way - the correct way.
