GotsToGo LBC (Little British Cars) is a website devoted to the offbeat, baffling, time-consuming, and fulfilling world of Little British Cars. With the Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite, Frogeye Sprite, MG Midget, Sprite, and Mini Cooper, even a Ford driving American understands the appeal of an lbc or at least the oddity inherent to all British cars.

I connected the amp's sense cable to the accessory fuse on the fuse box. It
now works! The only odd thing is that it does not come on at the key's
accessory position, but the "on" position. This seems to be the case with
other "accessories", like my electric radiator fan. Is there some sort of
issue here? BTW, there seems to be no requrement for grounding the sense
cable individually; there is one big ground cable from the amp for the whole
thing.
Now that I know that it can work in this way, I may connect the sense wire
to an "always on" fuse and put in a switch, to give more control as to when
the amp is on.
I'm running one of the low pressure Purolators on my 1275. It's now
Hi all,
The generic model Purolator / Facet solid state fuel pump comes in
several pressure models:
1-1/2 to 3-1/2 psi, 25 GPH Delivery
2-1/2 to 4-1/2 psi, 30 GPH Delivery
I found the following information on the pressure of the original AUF
300 SU pumps
AZX 1307 2.7 psi
AZX 1308 3.8 psi
both listed as 18 gal per hour.
Question is . . . which model Purolator / Facet solid state fuel pump
would work best as a replacement for the SU pump on a 74 Midget? Anyone
had any experience with these pumps?
To all my friends on the list(s). Elizabeth and Fisher Jones came all the
way from Comfort to El Paso, TX (over 500 miles) for the weekend, and
presented us with the checks for our grandchildren. We are overwhelmed with your
generosity.
I apologize for bombing the lists, but I am afraid if I send out single
emails I will miss someone.
We leave Saturday morning for a trip that I hope will go a long way towards
putting smiles on the faces of Aaron and Taylor. I promise to post somewhere
pictures and details when we get back so you may all see the results of your
generosity.
I still find it a bit unbelieveable, and a little embarassing, that so many
people were touched by our tragedy and wanted to help these kids. The cards
sent by everyone will be placed in an album for the kids to keep.
A blanket invitation, right now, for anyone on the list, if you are ever in
El Paso, or passing through as most everyone does, we have a guest house
(mother in laws place) that you are more than welcome to use. Or, come here for a
week on vacation. I promise to show you the sights, or leave you alone,
but I promise southern hospitality here in far west Texas ( or mid-NM as it is).
Again, thank you all, from my family. Love and God Bless you all.
Dear Listers,
Based on traffic lately I don't know who's out there but here goes anyway:
My brake light switch has passed on. Ordered a new one from Vicky B and have run into a problem. The manuals I have (Haynes and Official Shop) want one to unscrew the pedal box surround to get the clearance necessary to screw in the new switch without interference. Sounds OK but on inspection it appears my surround is welded down. Short of breaking the welds I don't see any way to screw in the new switch without hammerassing (sp?) it in and possibly damaging it. Any advice on how to get around this will be greatly appreciated. FWIW my car is a very early 75.
In an effort to keep things looking reasonably original, I am planning to re-do my beat-up console and install an NOS AM radio, map light, etc. into my 78 midget. I also have a nice amp tucked under the passenger seat that was last used with the cassette player that used to live in the car. My intention is to have the AM radio work as designed with a little speaker in the console, and use the amp, with speakers mounted behind, with a portable device of some sort, probably an mp3 player. MY QUESTION IS, what do I do with the blue "sense" cable from the amp? The amp will not work without that cable sensing SOMETHING, and there is no "real" stereo to supply the signal.
Thanks,
