I don't know how others feel, but to me it comes down to building your own
personal confidence in the car. Some will drive a car for years and still go
out expecting something to go wrong, whilst others assume there is nothing
wrong until the engine has actually blown up on them!
I find with any car purchase, new or old, I need to drive for a few miles
until it begins to give me confidence that it is ok!
I guess I would arrange to collect the car and maybe spend a day with it,
checking it out, driving a bit, re-checking and driving again. Put maybe 100
miles on it in 20 mile trips over the course of the day.
By then you will know a lot more, and if all is well, will feel much more
confident about setting out on your long trip home. after a good nights rest
somewher you will be ready and able to really enjoy the adventure without
too much anxiety. Relax, enjoy the feel of the car, contemplate the scenery
and cruise all the way home.
