My stance on originality is well known on this list, it's my opinion and as such
I'm entitled to express it.
You can shove a Chevvy V8 engine in one, you can slap spoilers on it, you can
put side skirts and chop the bodywork around as much as you like - but it
ceases to be a Spridget and becomes a kit-car.
If you want to create a kit-car out of Midget and Sprite parts then go ahead,
but please don't call it a Midget or a Sprite because it ceases to be one, it
becomes a chopped about hybrid kit car; and joins the ranks of many messed
about cars, which in my opinion are just a mess - and suffers the non-original
drop in value accordingly.
Many people don't agree with my stance on this, thats their prerogative, but
I'm not spending many hours, much back breaking work, and literally blood,
sweat and tears to bring my car back to its original pristine condition for
nothing, I want to contribute to the Midget and Sprite owning population, by
restoring a car for prosperity, and hopefully my car will still be around long
after I'm gone.
My passion is for Midgets and Sprites as they were originally intended by
their makers - warts and all - and not messed about hybrids, it breaks my
heart to see these beautiful little cars being hacked about, I'd rather see one
being scrapped than turned into a kit-car.
