Thanks for your interesting discoveries regarding this Midget.
I'd certainly agree that the price now seems high, It's not quite as
'immaculate' as first thought. It certainly seems more like a Condition 1 car
rather than Concours.
I'd use all the fault's you've found to lever down the price with the buyer,
particularly the lack of any history/service records ie you have no way of
verifying the recorded mileage (the odometer could have been faulty at one
point and replaced) and you have no information of service history.
Condition 1 cars go for about 4k GBP (6k USD) I'd probably knock off a1k or so
for remedying the faults, and so start my offer somewhere around 4 or 4.5k
USD - you can always go up.
The seller has admitted that he's had problems selling it, he may well take a
reduced price.
Good luck with it, it does sound that with a little work, care and attention it
could be a lovely low mileage car.
