You are correct about how simple it all seemed when I started.
I'm mainly concerned over two things=85 the lower eyelet (1/2") and the
weight of the car the shocks were originally intended for. I'm not
concerned much about the upper mounts because I can change them from
a 5/8" eyelet to a 3/8" bayonet in a heartbeat.
I have already downloaded the KYB catalog and considered EVERY shock
listed in it, and as luck would have it, the best fit (for my
application) shocks were made for a FWD Cadillac, 2WD Chevy, Ford or
Dodge trucks or a 4WD Toyota truck. Now I know that having a stiffer
shocks will have a vast improvement in handling, but I don't believe
that the stiffer the better=85 like one person I know that fitter a set
of full size Dodge sedan (early 70's) KYBs to his Bugeye.
After still more digging I've found that a Saab 900 has about the
same geometry I've been looking for. Sure it's a bit heavier than a
Toyota powered Sprite but so far it's the closest I can find. I can
get them for $28 ea at Summit and if they don't work out I can get a
set of Carreras vis Winners Circle for $108 each=85 oh that hurts just
to think about it! Anyone know the Carrera part numbers for the
Spridget shock so I can cut out WC's markup?
