Rob C. ... with respect...
1. Enron, Worldcom and the fixing of the
stock market cost taxpayers (little guys)
and the general economy something like 600 billion dollars.....lack of
SEC (gov't)
oversight. How does the little guy "get
even" with dishonorable corporate types
and irresponsible government oversight
on this one...besides picking up a gun!?
Well, of course not. What we really need
is a Martin Luther King type leading a
taxpayer revolt. And if this is what you
mean about the little guy standing up
for himself, then I agree with you in this
respect. Our two party, corporately financed "professional politician"
system
isn't working well anymore. And you can't
get a meaningful campaign finance
reform bill passed so as to begin to
return the elections to the people.
"Professional politicians" will not work
against there own self-interests by putting the interests of the people
they "serve"
before their own. Thus, it can be seen
we have the "wrong people" (selfishly
motivated) running the show.
As to the "top man".....he serves his masters. In this respect, there is
not
a dime's worth of difference between
a republican and/or democrat. e.g. -
JFK, a democrat, was pulling us out
of Vietnam and taking apart the CIA
for giving him false information upon
which he backed the invasion of Cuba
(aborted) and a "police action" in Vietnam. JFK was subsequently
"removed" from office.
His successor, also a
democrat (obviously:), escalated our
participation in Vietnam almost immediately upon becoming king, after
he rescinded the prior king's withdrawal
order. The previous king's order to
take apart the CIA got "lost in the mail".
(Incidentally, 40 years later, the CIA
provided "information" to our king upon
which he acted in waging war against
the Iraqii government. Something about
WMD's?)
2. You're right. Yes. Nothing wrong with
greed though. It only gets unhealthy when dishonor and lack of integrity
come into
the picture. Nothing wrong with corporations running the world if they
can do it with honesty, integrity and
social responsibility. Big business can
be a bad thing but...it could be a good
thing. The gun is not the problem...it's
the guy behind the trigger.
3. No system is perfect and without it's
merits or faults. I don't mind paying a
"socialized" system tax rate of nearly 50% but I want like value from my
"capitalist"
system. I'm not getting that so I'm pissed.
