Hi guys
I've just re-assembled my kingpin/stub axles and I must say I'm rather
pleased with them.
One question though which I'm a little unsure of.
There are two small rubber seals that go on the stub axle. One is a square
cross-section seal and one is a round cross-section seal.
Now it's my understanding (and I may well be wrong) that both of these seals
go into the lower part of the stub axle. The square cross-sectioned one goes
on top of the lower part of the stub axle, where the dust tube sits on, and the
round sectioned one goes at the bottom part of the stub-axle where the
kingpin sits up against it. Is this correct? These are the places these seals
were fitted to my stub axles.
I've seen in at least one book that a seal sits underneath the top trunnion??
Incidentally, the replacement round sectioned seals I got from Moss were the
wrong size both in terms of width and thickness. I re-used my old ones which
once cleaned came up good as new. The Moss ones will go back for a refund.
