I'm not disputing its 'beauty' or it's 'technological ability' at all, in fact
perversely when it did go over, you can't help but go out and watch it in awe
as it flew over.
What I am saying, and I think I've done so now, is that in this day and age why
is something that is not only uneconomic but provides so much 'noise
pollution' allowed to go on? Sentimentalty has no place in business. In any
other sector or business, it would have been axed years ago.
It makes me very cross (as a BA Shareholder) that whilst the company states
it is not in a position to pay shareholders any dividends (due to them
retaining any profits for future investment) they allow a loss making service
such as Concorde to go on? That makes no financial or business sense
whatsoever.
British Airways is not now in the 'comfortable' financial position it was in
when Concorde was put into service as a flagship airliner, when they could
afford to run it as a loss, and titilate the senses of those rich enough to to use
its services.
Thank goodness they finally saw the light.
