Yes, it is. A company called Nanjing Automobile (Group) Corporation. They plan to produce MG sportscars in the UK (and saloon cars under the Austin name, in China), though it has been said the UK part will be 'high value' products, so to my mind, this means you can forget any thoughts of a new Midget. However, the whole thing is still not cut and dried, as one of the rival bidders, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) have said they will ask for a judicial review of the administrators' handling of the sale. SAIC have also already bought intellectual... MORE

Interesting little snippet Look about half way down the text. Rgds AlanEJ Which leaves the MG brand =96 and the basis for an ambitious proposal headed by David James CBE, the `corporate doctor' credited with saving the Millennium Dome. The plan is called `Project Kimber', after MG's Founder Cecil Kimber, and aims to "acquire the brand and core assets of the best-known small sports car in the world". And then? Recommence TF production and contract out the design of a three- model range (including new MG B, GT and Midget) which, by 2009, will have a 160mph Porsche Cayman-rivalling... MORE

Hi, Jed! I live in a nice neighborhood, and my `79 Midget is garaged. However, I sometimes park in less than desirable areas and I have had issues with young jerks throwing beer cans, McDonald's waste, etc. into the cockpit of my car if not covered with a tonneau - in broad daylight in mall parking lots, etc.!! Also had a radio stolen once (before the car was garaged). The idiots tore open the top with a knife to crawl into the cockpit and ripped out the entire console. Radio was a Blaupunt with a "code," so it was... MORE

G'day guys Here's a little story that deserves to be told. Way back last August, I bought a used Datsun 5-speed box in the US, and had it shipped to Paul Asgeirsson at Morriservice to be rebuilt. A mate of mine was coming home from the US, and between the two of us we arranged Paul to supply two 5-speed conversion kits, my gearbox and another one for my mate. Well eventually they arrived, and in March my 5-speed Datto box and a kit went to another mate (Steve) 600 miles away, down in Melbourne. Steve fitted it to... MORE

Yeah, right!! We're the devil.....all others are "OK", never do anything wrong or make mistakes, right?? They're "perfect", we're "guilty", right? You wanna throw rocks? Include France, Germany & Russia who sabatoged UN efforts vis a vis Iraq in favor of their own national interests vis a vis their underhanded Iraqi oil deals with Mssr. Saddam. You think we'd been in Iraq today had the UN had the support of the foregoing big powers??? You know how much international jealousy there is out there for our way of life here in these United States??? Obviously, you have no clue.... MORE

This is a group intended for the sole purpose of chat related to British cars. In general it has stayed on that subject, with a few digressions. I myself have posted non-relevantly, including earlier today, and it is correct that I should not do so, instead reserving my off topic comments for another forum...nevertheless, I feel compelled to respond to your rant in response to one of our Brit members. You are way off base, both in directing your venom in this way, but even moreso because you have put forth falsehoods to support your emotionalism. You state that... MORE

Hi all I have a dizzy with an electronic module built in (on the side), probably from a 1275 metro or mini engine. Has anyone fitted one of these to a frogeye - if so, how do I wire it in? There are three electrical spade connections within a plastic housing - but no identification on them as to what should be connected to them. Any help appreciated Chris South Wales '58 frogeye "closrheidol" 37831... MORE

I'm sure I speak for all of us here in the UK when I say a big Thank You to all of you in the USA who offer comfort in our time of sorrow. Even though, thankfully, no one I know was involved, it affects everyone, as it brings back memories of loved ones lost over the years. That's what life is all about. To all of our friends in the UK, I know I speak for everyone on the list in that our hearts go out to you for the recent attacks. Somehow, I felt a little shy about what to say, knowing that bringing it up again helps to make people feel bad about it all over again. I sincerely hope that none of our listers were directly affected by this terrible tragedy. As we all know, many of us are forced to go back to "business as usual" whenever possible, but it is always with a heavy heart. The Brits... MORE

They all (A series) point slightly forwards. I suspect the line drawing for the clamp type in parts catalogues originally came from an existing drawing for another car, possibly Morris Minor or A30? If you can get hold of the flanged type, it makes a much better joint and is the correct type for your '74. It would have been tapped for studs not drilled for bolts if it is from a UK car, but it's highly likely the threads will be stripped, so would either need to be welded and redrilled/tapped or larger size studs fitted anyway. The run will take 3 to 4 hours and finish up at a pleasant village pub which serves good food at reasonable prices all day. There will be a small charge of just one UK pound per car to cover the cost of the trophy (yes there... MORE

I was wondering if any one would be able to help me find a cheap bonnet for a 76 Midget? I am toying with the idea of making a bonnet with big airholes to get warm air out cold air in. But I dont want to start chopping the bonnet up on my car in case it all goes wrong. I dont really care what state the bonnet is in as long as my car would be vaguly road legal with it on. Since it's quiet, I'll throw this one in, aimed primarily at the UK members but all comments welcome. I've just had to get a new inner tube fitted, and the Kwik (ha!)
