Some bits are interchangeable - tail lights are the same, mirrors are similar, but Midget ones need an extra angled plinth to sit at the correct angle due to the different curvature of the door panel compared to the 'B. Headlamp bezels again are slightly different, but you can generally make B ones fit. Without knowing the spec of your car (North American? UK?) I wouldn't like to comment on the air filter interchangeability. Wiper switch will probably be a two speed for the B and only a single speed for yours but again could be made to fit.... MORE

Guys I will be hosting the Midget & Sprite club stand at the BMC Rally on Sunday (1st August). The Rally attracts hundreds of British Motor Corporation built cars of all types including Spridgets as well as a variety of stalls and autojumble (some real bargains last year) all set in an area of lakes and meadows connected to Peterborough by a steam railway, with a battle of Britain flight flypast thrown in for good measure. Terry Since they improved the A1 Ferry Meadows has become a bit of a bugger to get to unless you know your way around Peterborough, you could at one time just turn off the A1 at Alwalton drive for a couple of miles and there you were. Ed Okay I understand, the dollar/GBP conversion rate must be killing you guys at the moment. I thought you meant in your original post that over there Moss would be cheaper, but factor in the conversion rate and postage and I can see what you mean. Jens I spoke to Burlen this morning as I mentioned and they were very helpful. I've ordered up two spindle kits, two rubber washers and two new AN needles from them. For interest and reference for others going down this route in the future the cost of drilling out the spindle holes in the carb body and putting in inserts for the new spindle is about =A320 GBP + VAT. The new spindle kit (comes with butterfly screws and gaskets) was =A36.87 GBP + VAT and the AN needle =A36.33 + VAT. The moral behind this is to avoid... MORE

brought the frogeye back to life tonight. First time it has started in the last year or so, but for the last 4 years it has only really run once a year to move to a new resting place. However this time it was a bit reluctant to start, and I found no spark so ran a hot wire from the fuse box to the +ve terminal of the coil and it fired up easily then. Interestingly when attempting to rev the engine it really did not want to know, and coughed and spluttered instead, this got better when... MORE

I'm sure you'll have many years of enjoyment and grazed knuckles from it : ) By far the best way of finding out about Midgets is to get a Production Trace Certificate done from British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, you'll need to supply the VIN number and pay your money... Headline...local British newspaper.... The local British car restorer known as Nigel was accidentally killed yesterday morning by an unknown missle of some sort which penetrated not only his body, but the wall of the cement garage in which he was working. The missle has not yet been found however, he was at the time working on some sort of hydraulic part which suspiciously appears to be missing it's piston. Nigel, my '74 has the same style front end, which I think was fitted after a front end shunt; I gather it was what BL were selling after 1275 production stopped, but before British Motor Heritage and/or others started reproducing the correct part. It's not quite a 1500 item, as they have provision for the reinforcement members and what are depressions in the chrome bumper type are actual holes in the 1500 valance; but you are right, it does seem to be based on 1500 pressings. Guys - Currently working on a Buick 215 powered MG midget, always loved the looks of the spoked wheels on British sports cars, but how long will they hold up to a small V8 and manual trans? A friend has offered me a set of wire wheels which he says are from a Triumph or maybe a MGB, (I think they are 14", but how do you tell what they are from, and what splines I will need?) Hi All. Well, we replaced the Master cylinder AND the slave cylinder, got the clutch bled and viola! ....the car ran like a well oiled top:) I had so much fun running around in it for 2 days...right up until I met with the local British Automotive club for a run...and it died on me in a parking lot. Damn! The fuel pump went out. We bought a new fuel pump today and I'll be up and running again in no time. The GOOD news, is that pretty soon I'll have replaced every part in the car and it... MORE
I stopped today and looked over the Jag. It's a 61 Mark IX. Looks very nice actually. Has the Chebby V-8. Sign in the window says he has $20K invested, and is asking $12.
