Hi all Awhile back I posted a question about finding out some info on a sliding type vinyl sunroof that I had aquired. Some of you were albe to help me identify what it was that I had. I am still seeking info on the part numbers and possibly obtaining a installation sheet for this. I think it may have been Jim Crowder who was going to try to find out about the company that made it. My '59 Bug eye is orig. and best I can measure without moving a lot of stuff, just in front of the rear wheel from the flat floor to the lowest part of the lip is about 6 1/8 inch clearance. How does that measure up? Bill French Hilton Head frenchww@... 32300... MORE
Hi All I am finishing building a frogeye out of a 1970 midget (fibreglass front and rear) and replaced the rear springs (left all nuts and bolts loose until loaded) with nearly new (purchased on auto jumble 5 leaves 38mm wide 4.35mm thick). Bob This may be rural Norfolk out in the fens but recently they have installed running water so I guess we could manage to wash your hair on site if need be, hence your excuse is not acceptable and we will expect you to attend in all three bugeyes, however the good news is that I will provide the beer. I'm having as problem removing the brass nut for the fuel line coming out of the tank. The tank is now off the car but the nut refuses to budge after several days of penetrating oil (Kroil) soaking. Part of the problem is that the nut is an odd size and none of my wrenches/spanners fit it properly. It is within a few thou of .600 inches and this does not match up to fractional sizes. 19/32 is as close as I can find and at that size I have only an open end wrench. I purchased my Sprite... MORE

Rob, I will, but surely you will then end up paying an additional internal shipping cost from your seller to me? Depending on weight this could add another $10 - $30 to your costs. If you know the weight and / or dimensions I can look up a shipping cost from this end if you like. When I wwas shipping to the States last time, it was much cheaper from this end to send by Royal Mail than by any of the USA firms like UPS or Fedex. Early cars with Morris Minor steering racks were DEFINITELY aluminum, and NOT painted or plated. Later cars (as stated below) with _Triumph_ steering racks WERE stamped steel AND Cad plated. I don't know if UK cars might have had black oainted brackets on the later cars, but I have an original un-molested '72 Midget, and the brackets are cad plated. Gerard "gerardchateau" 32127... MORE

Alan, I think if you swap everything over, including stub axles/kingpins, brakes and steering rack, it should be straightforward (assuming the Frogeye steering column fits on the rack pinion ;-) ) Regards David "David Jacobs" 32120... MORE
"tribilogist"??? Jeeze Alan, talk English for chrissake!! :):) I use fully synthetic "Oil Extreme" in my 1293 which used Valvoline 10/40 min. oil on initial break-in. No difference in water vapor upon initial start. Engines with cats produce very hot exhaust gases...what temp do cats operate at? Alan I can't comment on the Frogeye ones, but I can on the 72 ones (assuming there was no change from the 71 - 72 model year) as I've recently had them off my car. They were definitely NOT plated in any way. I know because I cleaned mine up with a wire zip wheel in my angle grinder. They are a natural finish, of some form of aluminimum or alum alloy casting. They're definitely NOT steel - take one off and pick it up - its very light - no way is it steel. And the 'yellow' finish... MORE

I=92m in Wallington (Surrey) near sunny Croydon, but actually spend most of my time in Central London, where I work (Covent Garden). You anywhere near Covent Garden Gary?
