Chris, Yes our Rugby team took on the world and beat them all (USA went out quite early in the competition didn't they????? )- flame suit on . At least it was a real world championship not just limited to one country plus the occassional neighbour, now what sport is that , oh yes! Chris You're most welcome to the help, thats what the list's here for. I'm also in Surrey as it happens. If you're looking for a usable Midget, rather than a 'concour's or 'rust heap' theres plenty to choose from, but the expression Caveat Emptor definitely applies to this group of cars, ie the middle ground. The first piece of advice I can give you is to look at the bodywork very carefully indeed, as this is the most expensive to fix by a long way. Hi David- Couldn't access the pic at all. Thanks for your help. I am still trying to figure out the attachment problem on my car. When I started my restoration, I stripped the car down to bare metal. Found the right wing had a bit of repair. All other panels were perfect. Sought out a NOS wing in England and was lucky enough to find one (this was about 8 years ago). While I think they are unfair to the frogeye, I have to say I can't really see the frogeye as twice the car that the later spridgets are, but it does have twice the price and so I would never actually pay for one (My frogeye was free!) actually I would say the chrome bumpered non RWA 1275 spridget i s the best all round value for money spridget. Hi Nigel, I've got to say that I agree with David. When I first read it I thought like you, but on reading it again I have to agree with the fact that in it's basic form it aint no rocket! It's also true to say that it has only become "cool" in more recent years and the characteristic "Frog eyes" were solely down to economics and US laws on headlight height rather than any intentional styling foresight. Hi guys I recently bought the January 2004 issue of the British Classic Car Magazin =3D=0D e 'Practical Classics' which is usually very good. I've been reading this magazine for about 20 years. However, I must say that I'm not at all happy with the article on pages 152 =3D=0D -153 of said magazine titled 'Our Top Ten Misunderstood Classic Cars', where the =3D=0D Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite accompanies such memorable classics as the Triumph Acclaim, Ford Pop 103E, Reliant Regal, Fiat 124 and Daf 44/45 among =3D=0D st others. Stewart... I love my Frogeye but I have to agree with you. As a daily driver, my Vizardized '74 was a more practical car for sure. I understood that the early cars had hand stamped numbers (cut, I believe the expression is) from the top . But the later cars had them stamped from the back resulting in raised figures that in theory could not overstamped. An anti theft device to stop people changing the identity of the car. I understand that there's a place in Brum (where else?) that supplies the c orrect VIN plates and know a place that can stamp the raised letters. I hav e the details somewhere. Dan Can't help with the book I'm afraid, but I do know that Moss in the UK do t =3D=0D he VIN plates, also that they sometimes come on on ebay.co.uk within a 'decal =3D=0D set'. You could also trawl ebay.co.uk or .com for the book you're looking f =3D=0D or, I've seen all sorts of books relevant to Midgets and Sprites on there. "Is it snowing already" Yep...not right now, but earlier this morning with arrival of cold front outta Canada. Only "squalls" or showers though with passing of fairly dry cold front this morning up here in the NE USA, Nigel. Much Canadian cold air moving in tonight. Temps here in CT on the shore should fall to low 20's by early morning. Temps in Maine (further north and east) should be fall well into the mid-teens, winds notwithstanding. Mike An online tool seller over here in the UK sell letter and number punches in various sizes, I was actually going to buy a set for my own VIN plate until Ed mentioned the company that does the stamping. Eeg Thank you and I'm pleased to hear your new sill is going to stay on! And yes I've already sprayed the underneath in topcoat, it's all done, as well as the engine bay and inside. I'm just working on the outer panels now. Repair panels are notorious for poor fit, some suppliers of repair panels are better than others (yes Ashley Hinton, you're one of the good ones:) and pretty much all of them require some form of fettling to make them fit correctly.
