After four years of repairs, I'm finally getting around to painting my 61 bugeye. Problem is there are dozens of "british racing green" colors. Every paint remotely green claims to be BRG. Anyonw with suggestions, or perhaps the paint code #, for a close-to-authentic version of this? Thanks in advance. Alex 61 bugeye (under construction) "Alex del Russo" 29604... MORE

Mike Ahh you mean the British Leyland wing badge, sorry my mistake. Can't help you here as I need to know that myself actually! He suggests the trash can, because 'purists' don't like the changes British Leyland wrought on the Spridgets when they took them over, so the less to remind them of British Leyland the better! Hi all, I have a friend who just missed out on a nice MGB and is looking for a good daily driver, preferably a top down car. It doesn't have to be British, but I think that is her first choice, but it does have to be a convertible on the smallish side. If anyone has anything the want to sell, contact me off list. I've seen them all shades of black including underseal. I've seen them with chrome and stainless trims. I've seen them rusty brown with holes. I've seen them with painted over rubberized paint. I've seen them with the same colour and finish as the rest of the car. Which although is not original looks far better, and classic IMHO. Mine will be the same colour as the bodywork. Not original maybe (who cares ?) but mine. Alan - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -... MORE

OK, for those (several) who said they are/might be interested, or "grab them anyway", I will do just that and then get back in touch when I know what Mr Rust the scrapman, charges me for them. I'll let you know and then you can decide if you are still interested. I will get carbs, linkeage and manifold. Exhaust manifold as well?? I am in the UK, Lake District Guy "Guy Weller" 29333... Going through old papers the other day and I ran into a letter from a chap in England that was going to do Sebring Sprite replica panels in fiberglass taken off of molds of an original car. Now this was back in 1989 but I am curious if anything still exsists of this project. This was offered from the stabels of Brian Archer, in association with Peter Bird (best known for the Falcon kit car). Enquires were to Sebring, 2, The Model Village, Southam, Nr. Maplins have a web site (maplin.co.uk) and do mail order from it. The wire is quite thick for the panel lights and shoulds easily take the extra load. When I get to Maplin I will buy a holder and a halogen bulb, and try to modify the existing holder. In the past I have smashed up a bulb and mounted the new holder in the screw bit of the old bulb. Now the old bit screws into the original holder and the new bulb goes into the new holder. Got two problems, not a lot of light and bad... MORE

Further to my query regarding the water leak, I think it has been answered finally by the fact that on it's way to the garage this morning to be inspected, the head gasket blew. As usual this happened about 400 yards from the garage in question, leading me to wonder why as these things couldn't have waited for a few minuites longer until I was actually AT the garage and saved me a recovery fee. Anyway, its now in Jentree garage in Pevensey where they will have a good look as to what exactly needs doing on it. As... MORE

Terry... I agree with Nigel asking you why all this for bulb replacement but I will answer to the extent I can 'cause obviously it's already out of the car!! :):) OK... 1. Yes (O-ring, gasket, rubber washer, bit of silicone, whatever! :) 2. Have not seen an O-ring between instrument and panel before. But I don't see why you could not do this, either. 3. White/sky blue...don't know 4. Innard out...don't recall..too long ago! :) 5. Reset rod broken...maybe. Mine ends in a little knob (most likely set into that small slot you see?) 6. As I recall,... Hi I would like to see what speed I am doing in the dark so Speedo is out and apart. 1972 RWA midget Questions Chrome bezel is filled with black gunge at rear, is this the remnants of an 0 ring that seals the bezel to the glass? Is there an 0 ring between the Speedo and dash board? The inside of the Speedo is sky blue from 1 o'clock to 7 o'clock and white for the other half. Is this correct and why? How do you get the innards out? The trip reset rod is stopping it. What... MORE

Roger... I had the pleasure to visit the UK back in the late '60's/early 70's so I am not up to date on present "conditions". Wife and I spent most of our time touring Kent (met Bob Tuck on his farm!) and enjoying London, Imperial War Museam and various WW2 airports/towns I'd read about as we came upon them. Later on I flew as part of a crew on weekly cargo trips into the Kent area (Manston? I'd have to look it up...long time ago). The people really make a place more than just a place. I loved it... Duncan Don't think they have changed it, I looked at this more than ten years ago. =3D=0D Here is a list of the excluded countries - http://www.us-immigration.org/gclot2.htm You must be native of a country with a low rate of immigration to the U.S.A =3D=0D . . People born in countries with high U.S. immigration are excluded from this =3D=0D lottery. A native is someone born in a eligible country. Duncan I've looked into the lottery system. It DOES NOT apply to people born in En =3D=0D gland (ie of British Citizenship) perversely it does apply to people born in the =3D=0D Republic of Ireland, or Eire as they were once called - go figure. So I have no idea how your friend managed to get a visa under the lottery system the only thing I can think of was that he was not a British Citizen =3D=0D or if he was he was born within one of the countries that are allowed to enter under the lottery system.... Should now be labelled NoLBC I think that there are are pros and cons with both systems, but for sure, if you have a lot of money then it makes life , and health a lot easier in which ever country you live. I hate seeing the taxes I pay wasted, but as an insurance policy we have what we have , and at the point of service it cannot be faulted in the UK. If you have an emergency then the service is fantastic with no expense spared, I don't mind my taxes being spent on this ,... MORE

Two points from the UK, Nigel is right that "National Insurance" (tax) is around 8% (actually slightly more) but this is not hypothecated to the Health Service. UK governments do not use tax in this way, but pool all tax income and then divide it up between the various "needs", so it is not really possible to say how much of each revenue source goes to each service. My second point is that, although the UK health service has its failings, it is at least free at the point of delivery, and this I think is a real plus... MORE
