Further to my query regarding the water leak, I think it has been
answered finally by the fact that on it's way to the garage this
morning to be inspected, the head gasket blew.
As usual this happened about 400 yards from the garage in question,
leading me to wonder why as these things couldn't have waited for a
few minuites longer until I was actually AT the garage and saved me
a recovery fee.
Anyway, its now in Jentree garage in Pevensey where they will have a
good look as to what exactly needs doing on it.
As I think the clutch is on its way out, I think just getting a
whole new geabox/engine unit would be the answer, if not the least
expensive one.
Jentree were rather dubious about the second hand units I have seen
for sale through MG specialists for about =A3200.00 or so, but I don't
know if this is generally true or whether they have a particular axe
to grind.
Does anyone out there have any recommendations as to where a
reasonable 1500 unit can be purchased here in the UK at a reasonable
price? I don't think I can afford a reconditioned unit, which I have
seen usually for about =A3600.00.Or is the expense of a fully
reconditioned unit worth it?
