I would like to see what speed I am doing in the dark so Speedo is out and apart. 1972 RWA midget
Questions
Chrome bezel is filled with black gunge at rear, is this the remnants of an 0 ring that seals the bezel to the glass?
Is there an 0 ring between the Speedo and dash board?
The inside of the Speedo is sky blue from 1 o'clock to 7 o'clock and white for the other half. Is this correct and why?
How do you get the innards out? The trip reset rod is stopping it.
What should be on the end of the trip reset rod, mine ends in a screwdriver slot? Has it broken?
There is one light bulb holder fixing hole at 4 o'clock, viewed from the front, but a plastic plug at 12 o'clock that is in a hole that is the same size as a light bulb holder fixing hole. I am going to try a second lamp in this hole, anyone done this, if so with what result?
There is an inner ring that drops into the Speedo case from the front. It has an 0 ring against which the glass rests and is painted matt white on the rear, almost worn off. It looks like the light has to get round the innards onto this ring then reflected onto the dial. I am going to repaint this matt white. Anyone else done this, if so what result.
I will start with the normal 12v 2.2 watt bulbs then if no good try one of the 12v halogen 5w ones.
