Hi everyone, I recently pick up a 71 Midget that some what a basket case for $100. Unfortunately it was an unfinished project from someone else. the rear section was choped off to make a truck bed. It also has a Fiat engine under the hood (I don't like this combo) I intend to fix the body up to original design and put in some japanese powertrain. and upgrade suspension to a full SLA both front and rear. Any sub 1500 4 cyl triumph engine should fit with no mods as its the same engine, 1300 spitfire would be best, better than the 1500 one the midget had in fact as the really had over stretched the original design. If you were in the UK then you could use dolomite engines. Dolomite 1850, TR7 2 litre, dolomite sprint 2litre 16v would all be possible. 2.0,2.5 Triumph 6 cyl motor would possibly bolt to the box, and if a jag XK motor can fit then one of these will! Hi Ideally as other posters have stated, you'll need a BMHIT Certificate to tell you exactly what the colour of your car was. However, with a little detective work I'm sure you can figure it out yourself, unless of course a previous owner was very thorough in his re-spray that he completely repainted the entire shell. Drew, This spring I converted to a tube shock suspension and larger front disc brakes. I purchased the full shock kit with mounting components kit from Frontline Spridget. Lots of custom grinding and filing to get it to fit. Worth the effort, but not a bolt on as marketed. The kit included AVO adjustable shocks. (www.avouk.com). No part # was included on the invoice or the one page of lit from AVO. I can't tell from their web site what car they're intended for, since Spridget isn't a choice there. Whilst we are on about language.. Why Lugnuts? Wheelnuts seems so much clearer. Lugs are ears in the UK. Lugholes = earholes And Fenders are what you have around a fireplace to stop hot cinders rolling across the floor. Although, come to think of it, you have fenders on a boat. Does it ever end? I suspect it is a contest between me and Nigel as to who will crack up first from the frustration of endless prep work. I am also a contender for that , I blame the english weather. I remember seeing something in one of my books about this bonnet (hood) but I can't for the life of me find it now. I think it may be in the Chris =3D=0D Harvey book on Sprites and Midgets which I've lent to someone. $1000.00 takes this car home. Forced to sell, getting married and need the cash, bonnet alone is worth $1200.00 andI have put more then that just into restoring the bonnet. It is one of three known Thomas Denner Bonnets left in the world. The car is RHD with a new rack, and tie rods imported from the UK, most parts to finish it needs paint and body for the rear half and there is no motor or trans. Any body know of a good source of second hand parts in Norter England. Due to a complete brain fade I have bent the drivers door back on its self with maximun damage to door and A post cover panel. I am NOT happy but only myself to blame forgot to put hand brake on when putting on trailer got out leaving door open and guess what rolled straight off catching door on steady post.
