This spring I converted to a tube shock suspension and larger front
disc brakes. I purchased the full shock kit with mounting components
kit from Frontline Spridget. Lots of custom grinding and filing to
get it to fit. Worth the effort, but not a bolt on as marketed.
The kit included AVO adjustable shocks. (www.avouk.com). No part
# was included on the invoice or the one page of lit from AVO. I
can't tell from their web site what car they're intended for, since
Spridget isn't a choice there. I believe that the eye bores at each
end were 5/8", but I can't tell that for sure without some
dissassembly. Currently, the shocks have a standstill weighted
static length of 13 5/8". I can't tell the range of motion either
with them fitted. (Not much help huh.) Frontline

details if interested, since you've got to go to them for the
part/model # anyway. Or AVO could probably tell you.
The shocks have a 10 click adjustment. I have them at 5 for
street driving. My left front tire carries 520 lb, and my right fron
carries 470lb. I have TR3 front coils in place of the stock Spridget
springs. They have a free length and diameter very close to the
SSS's, but a higher rate (matched to their old ~2 liter boat anchor)
that carries my heavier engine well.
I have no experience with the other tube shock mfgrs. products.
All I can say is that this upgrade along with a change to a urethane
bushed 3/4" sway bar (up from a rotted rubber bushed 5/8), urethane
at the wishbone corners, and stock rubber at the trunnions made a
huge difference in the overall feel. Much tighter, stable, and more
responsive compared to lever shox, but not too harsh or road noisy.
Comparable to the results of others on list in general.
