Yes, it is. A company called Nanjing Automobile (Group) Corporation. They
plan to produce MG sportscars in the UK (and saloon cars under the Austin
name, in China), though it has been said the UK part will be 'high value'
products, so to my mind, this means you can forget any thoughts of a new
Midget.
However, the whole thing is still not cut and dried, as one of the rival
bidders, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) have said they
will ask for a judicial review of the administrators' handling of the sale.
SAIC have also already bought intellectual property rights to a number of
existing models, though I keep hearing conflicting reports on what cars
these rights are actually for.
