"Is it just me?"
No Alan East-Jones, it's not. I have no
interest in guns and beer, fr'instance. But
I sure don't mind others swapping mails
over these subjects at all. Usually because of the well intended humor
in
them I read them anyway. I like the "people aspect" of the contents.
The English on the whole see their club
activities (moreso than Americans) as
a social event with the "objects" taking
less of a priority over the "humans". I am
this way fr'instance and thus, belong more
"over there" than "here", in this particular
respect.
Others (fewer rather than the majority)
put the "object" before the "human" and
this is not entirely bad as it keeps us from
straying "too far" and reminds us that this
is, after all, a car list.
Sort of like the "left" and "right" in terms
of the political arena. They balance one
another and help us (to some extent) keep
a more reasonable perspective on events.
