"Political Correctness"
A method for avoiding the truth...a sort
of psuedo reality.
It prevents true problem solving by avoiding reality. Often used by
politicians
who are looking for votes...as in illegals
or minorities in the case of the USA,
anyway. Telling the truth MIGHT insult
certain groups...who might not vote for you. (tsk, tsk!) So, if you want
to keep
your poltical position, or improve it, you
must sacrifice your integrity so as to "keep
your job".
"Political correctness"
also allows for short-term temporary
fixes to relieve problems expediently by
treating "symptoms" rather than "causes",
as in taking aspirin for headaches without
finding the cause of the headaches and
eliminating same thus solving the problem
more or less permanently and moving on
to solve other problems. This equates to
political/government/administrative job
security....the problem will always be with
us.
So in the immediately foregoing respect,
it can be seen that political correctness
prevents or at least, stifles progress.
Example: NYC students are having a
problem meeting standards in passing
State Regents Exams.
Politically correct fix: lower the passing
score to 55% from 65%.
Result: no one is "insulted" including
blacks, reds, whites, minorities, etc.
No votes are lost. Money is not spent on
solving the problem (usually, but not always) which is lack of
motivation on the
part of the student along with a lack of
discipline within the schools themselves,
all brought upon by social ills within the
society for a number of reasons (no room
for all of this in this e-mail!:).
End Result: Society in general becomes
dumber and dumber, which makes society
as a whole, far more easier to manipulate
in all ways, by those gain in terms of their
agendas for doing so.
Fr'instance:
I'm glad Saddam is gone and can give you
good (though Government unstated)
reasons for establishing a military presence in this part of the world
at this
point in time. But let's face it...the Administration had to lie to the
American
public to accomplish this. And the UN and
Saddam played their cards in such a manner so as to allow this to
happen. OTOH, WMD's may yet be found but,
sufficient time has passed in this respect
to make end results in this respect, some-
what....ahhhhh....questionable? (Needless
to say, I'm glad we did what we did, but
not for the stated reasons. There's much
more to come. This is only "the beginning"
IMHO. We are now at a stage wherein these extremists are attacking thier
own
governments...good...we're making progress...real progress toward the
inevitble "showdown" which history tells me must follow for the world to
"get better".
Well, there's more but that's all for now,
folks and remember, opinions are like
a$$holes....we've all got one! :)
