hi guys (bloody hell I've got to say and girly's now)
I'm confused. Someone please put me out of my state of confusion.
Spotted this one ebay (don't ask how or why) http://tinyurl.com/zjbe
Can someone please explain to me why this person has got a supposed 'tax
exempt' Rubber Bumpered MG BGT ?
Let start from some premises shall we. Tax exempt cars are those made
before 1st January 1972, and as we all know, Rubber Bumpered cars were not
made before 1972.
He's saying he used a 1968 'chassis' and put in his 1974 running gear. Ummm
but a 1968 car would have been a chrome bumpered car, so why is this one a
Rubber Bumpered car?
Anyone else think this guys 'hoodwinking' the tax people?
Also, as far as I'm aware there has to at least 70% of the original car existing
in the 'new car' for it to be considered the 'same' car.
Clearly this isn't the case here, as all he's used is the old 'shell' or supposedly
has. I think he's just transferred the number plates over from his 1968 car, to
his 1974 car to make it 'tax exempt', which he can't do.
Comments?
