Bill,
Just registered my car as an Antique in Illinois this past spring. Wasn't bothered at all and from asking around, the local gendarmes don't pay much attention. In Illinois there is also a proviso fot driving your car to get serviced which pretty much makes it worthless for any cop to stop you.
