Yes, that is one of those little design things with these cars. You have to loosen up the box, try to loosen up the screws/bolts but do not remove them except for possibly the 2 at the furthust end near the switch. Beware! of installing the new switch. If you ordered a replacement one from one of the usual places they are such inferior crap that you stand a good chance of breaking it trying to put it in. So go slow and don't let the wires get all twisted up or they may break off. Like mine did....
